    Get PDF
    We present a search for associated Higgs boson production in the process p (p) over bar -> W/ZH -> l(+/-)l'(+/-) + X in ee, e mu, and mu mu final states. The search is based on data collected by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider at root s = 1.96 TeV corresponding to 5.3 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity. We require two isolated leptons (electrons or muons) with the same electric charge and additional kinematic requirements. No significant excess above background is observed, and we set 95% C. L. observed (expected) upper limits on ratio of the production cross section to the standard model prediction of 6.4 (7.3) for a Higgs boson mass of 165 GeV and 13.5 (19.8) for a mass of 115 GeV

    Search for a Narrow ttbar Resonance in ppbar Collisions at sqrt{s}=1.96 TeV

    We report a search for a narrow ttbar resonance that decays into a lepton+jets final state based on an integrated luminosity of 5.3/fb of proton-antiproton collisions at sqrt{s}=1.96 TeV collected by the D0 Collaboration at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We set upper limits on the production cross section of such a resonance multiplied by its branching fraction to ttbar which we compare to predictions for a leptophobic topcolor Z' boson. We exclude such a resonance at the 95% confidence level for masses below 835 GeV.Comment: 7 pages, 3 figures, submitted to Physical Review Letter

    Precise measurement of the top quark mass in the dilepton channel at D0

    Get PDF
    We measure the top quark mass (mt) in ppbar collisions at a center of mass energy of 1.96 TeV using dilepton ttbar->W+bW-bbar->l+nubl-nubarbbar events, where l denotes an electron, a muon, or a tau that decays leptonically. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 5.4 fb-1 collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We obtain mt = 174.0 +- 1.8(stat) +- 2.4(syst) GeV, which is in agreement with the current world average mt = 173.3 +- 1.1 GeV. This is currently the most precise measurement of mt in the dilepton channel.Comment: 7 pages, 4 figure

    Search for the Higgs boson in lepton, tau and jets final states

    Get PDF
    We present a search for the standard model Higgs boson in final states with an electron or muon and a hadronically decaying tau lepton in association with two or more jets using 9.7 fb^{-1} of Run II Fermilab Tevatron Collider data collected with the D0 detector. The analysis is sensitive to Higgs boson production via gluon fusion, associated vector boson production, and vector boson fusion, followed by the Higgs boson decay to tau lepton pairs or to W boson pairs. The ratios of 95% C.L. upper limits on the cross section times branching ratio to those predicted by the standard model are obtained for orthogonal subsamples that are enriched in either H -> tau tau decays or H -> WW decays, and for the combination of these subsample limits. The observed and expected limit ratios for the combined subsamples at a Higgs boson mass of 125 GeV are 11.3 and 9.0 respectively

    A search for charged massive long-lived particles

    Get PDF
    We report on a search for charged massive long-lived particles (CMLLPs), based on 5.2 fb1^{-1} of integrated luminosity collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron ppˉp\bar{p} collider. We search for events in which one or more particles are reconstructed as muons but have speed and ionization energy loss (dE/dx)(dE/dx) inconsistent with muons produced in beam collisions. CMLLPs are predicted in several theories of physics beyond the standard model. We exclude pair-produced long-lived gaugino-like charginos below 267 GeV and higgsino-like charginos below 217 GeV at 95% C.L., as well as long-lived scalar top quarks with mass below 285 GeV.Comment: submitted to Phys. We present measurements of production cross sections of single top quarks in \ppbar collisions at s=1.96  TeV\sqrt{s}=1.96\;\rm TeV in a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4  fb15.4\;\rm fb^{-1} collected by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We select events with an isolated electron or muon, an imbalance in transverse energy, and two, three, or four jets, with one or two of them containing a bottom hadron. We obtain an inclusive cross section of \sigma({\ppbar}{\rargap}tb+X, tqb+X) = 3.43\pm^{0.73}_{0.74}\;\rm pb and use it to extract the CKM matrix element 0.79<Vtb10.79 < |V_{tb}| \leq 1 at the 95% C.L. We also measure \sigma({\ppbar}{\rargap}tb+X) = 0.68\pm^{0.38}_{0.35}\;\rm pb and \sigma({\ppbar}{\rargap}tqb+X) = 2.86\pm^{0.69}_{0.63}\;\rm pb when assuming, respectively, tqbtqb and tbtb production rates as predicted by the standard model.Comment: 11 pages, 8 figures, submitted to Phys. We present a search for the pair production of first generation scalar leptoquarks (LQ) in data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4 fb1^{-1} collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider in ppbar collisions at s=1.96\sqrt{s}=1.96 TeV. In the channel LQLQˉeνeqqLQ \bar{LQ} \rightarrow e\nu_e qq', where q, q' are u or d quarks, no significant excess of data over background is observed, and we set a 95% C.L. lower limit of 326 GeV on the leptoquark mass, assuming equal probabilities of leptoquark decays to eq and νeq\nu_e q'.Comment: 7 pages, 6 figures, submitted to PRD-R

    Search for WHWH associated production in ppˉp \bar{p} collisions at s=1.96TeV\sqrt{s}=1.96\,{\rm TeV}

    Get PDF
    This report describes a search for associated production of WW and Higgs bosons based on data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of L\cal{L}5.3fb1 \approx 5.3 \rm fb^{-1} collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron ppˉp\bar{p} Collider. Events containing a WνW\rightarrow \ell \nu candidate (with \ell corresponding to ee or μ\mu) are selected in association with two or three reconstructed jets. One or two of the jets are required to be consistent with having evolved from a bb quark. A multivariate discriminant technique is used to improve the separation of signal and backgrounds. Expected and observed upper limits are obtained for the product of the WHWH production cross section and branching ratios and reported in terms of ratios relative to the prediction of the standard model as a function of the mass of the Higgs boson (MHM_{H}). The observed and expected 95% C.L. upper limits obtained for an assumed MH=115GeVM_{H}=115 \rm GeV are, respectively, factors of 4.5 and 4.8 larger than the value predicted by the standard model.Comment: 25 pages, 14 figure

    Measurement of the top quark pair production cross section in the lepton+jets channel in proton-antiproton collisions at s\sqrt{s}=1.96 TeV

    Get PDF
    We present a measurement of the inclusive top quark pair production cross section in \ppbar collisions at (\sqrt{s}=1.96) TeV utilizing data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of \lumi\ collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We consider final states containing one high-pTp_{T} isolated electron or muon and at least two jets, and we perform three analyses: one exploiting specific kinematic features of \ttbar events, the second using bb-jet identification, and the third using both techniques to separate \ttbar\ signal from background. In the third case, we determine simultaneously the ttˉt\bar{t} cross section and the ratio of the production rates of WW+heavy flavor jets and WW+light flavor jets, which reduces the impact of the systematic uncertainties related to the background estimation. Assuming a top quark mass of 172.5 GeV, we obtain σttˉ=7.780.64+0.77\sigma_{t\bar{t}} = 7.78^{+0.77}_{-0.64} pb. This result agrees with predictions of the standard model.Comment: 19 pages, 6 figures, submitted to Phys. Rev.
