The effect of major roads upon the local economy:a study of industrial location and its effects
The economic effects of road building (beyond those accounted for in cost-benefit analysis) are not well understood. This thesis examines the issues surrounding those effects and attempts to clarify the relationship between road building and industrial location and to identify the effect on employment of that location. The literature reviewed leads to some doubt as to the efficacy of roads as an economic tool. A scries of interviews with representatives of business and property professionals in three areas adjacent to motorways is carried out. These covered the firms' location or relocation decisions, their production costs, transport needs and employment. The conclusions drawn echo the above statements based on reviewed literature: 1. There was a general lack of knowledge of transport within a firm despite subjects' very good understanding of the rest of the firms' operations. 2. The importance of major roads to the business location decision and its perceived importance to the operations of the firms was low. Property professionals sec roads as an effective marketing tool. 3. Firms have a tendency to shed labour upon relocation although this does not necessarily constitute a net loss of employment but a redistribution. Recommendations are made for further research
Scouting in the Postmodern Era
The author of the doctoral thesis titled Scouting in the postmodern era deals with the creation of conditions for extracurricular education and comprehensive specific description of the history, mission and principles of Scouting. This topic is important because the Scout Movement had com-pleted the 100th anniversary of its existence, it has lost none of its appeal to young people and vice versa appeals to a growing number of adults. This thesis, through the comparative study of historical sources and current events, analyses didactics, methodology and development of Scouting in the international environment and its specific development in Czech countries, often influenced by particular political situation. Therefore, it reflects particularly the position of Scouting in postmodern era and explains the challenges of Scout activities for the future as part of extracurricular education with the aim to developing universal personal skills of children and young people and contribution of Scouting to general improvement of social environment. Proto reflektuje zejména zasazení skautingu do postmoderní doby a objasňuje výzvy skautské činnosti pro budoucnost ja-kožto součásti mimoškolní výchovy s cílem všestranného osobního rozvoje kompetencí dětí a mladých lidí. Skauting je tak chápán jako příspěvek k obecné všenápravě. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)Department of EducationKatedra pedagogikyFaculty of ArtsFilozofická fakult
DevOps environment and test automatization for project Employees evaluation
This bachelor thesis deals with the DevOps concept and software project testing in an agile environment. More specifically, the application of those principles to software project - Employee Evaluation. The main focus of this work is to briefly introduce software testing and DevOps principles and to demonstrate the design of the testing strategy for project Employee Evaluation. The common testing strategy design is followed by a specific test plan design. Tests are then implemented according to the specific test plan, including the environment needed for automatization of the tests. Tool comparison is also included in the theoretical part, and appropriate tools are then selected for the implementation based on this comparison. The two main tools used for testing are JUnit5 test framework for unit tests and Arquillian for integration tests. New workflow processes are designed to integrate those modern principles, such as Continuous Integration and Delivery, to the software development lifecycle. With the use of Gitlab CI/CD tool, a Continuous Delivery Pipeline is created for the new workflow. The new workflow is demonstrated in the form of several examples common within software delivery processes, such as critical production bug repair or release of a new version. Based on the detected defects and their severity, evaluation for the finished testing is conducted

Water quality index and hydrogeochemistry of Otukpo area, Benue State, North Central Nigeria
The research is aimed to assess the surface and groundwater quality in Otukpo area and environs, Benue State, North Eastern Nigeria. Sixteen water samples were collected from 7 boreholes, 7 hand duck wells and 2 rivers. The water samples were analysed chemically and bacteriologically using spectrophotometric, titrimetric and membrane filtration methods. Analytical results indicated that the groundwater in the area is acidic, fresh and moderately hard. The order of abundance of the cations were in Na+<K+<Mg2+<Ca2+ while the anions were in the order of Cl-<HCO3->SO42-<NO3-. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) identified four factors that accounts for 69.73% of the total variance. Correlation analysis, Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and Hierarchical Cluster Analysis (HCA) revealed pollution from application of agricultural fertilizers, anthropogenic contamination and rock-water interaction as the major processes responsible for the modification of surface and groundwater chemistry of the research area. The Gibbs diagram plot shows that, the sample points fall under rock dominance and weathering zones, which suggested precipitation, induced chemical weathering with the dissolution of rock-forming minerals. The piper diagram classified groundwater samples as Ca-Mg-HCO3 water type. Water Quality Index (WQI) values range from 22.05 to 56.13 which indicated good and excellent water category. The SAR values range from 0.02 to 0.66 the values belong to the excellent category and is suitable for irrigation. The overall result revealed that, the water in the research area is suitable for domestic, industrial and irrigation activities
POSSIBILITIES OF USING LOW-MOLECULAR-WEIGHT HEPARIN IN THE COMPLEX TREATMENT OF WOMEN WITH TUMORS OF THE REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM
Benign and malignant tumors of the organs of the female reproductive system are the most common diseases requiring medical and surgical treatment. They are rarely the cause of acute complications. However, the thromboembolic disease is a serious illness, sometimes causing death due to acute the pulmonary embolism. Venous thromboembolism secondary to Benign and malignant tumors of the organs of the female reproductive system should be considered in a female presenting with abdominal mass and pelvic pressure. Thromboembolic disease secondary to large tumors should be treated with anticoagulation then hysterectomy. The article presents an analysis of modern literature on optimal prevention of the pulmonary thromboembolism in patients with tumors of the female reproductive system. There are analysis data of 17 (0.7 %) cases of the pulmonary thromboembolism that occurred of 2358 gynecological and oncogynecologic patients

Author Posting. © The Author(s), 2012. This is the author's version of the work. It is posted here by permission of Elsevier for personal use, not for redistribution. The definitive version was published in Advances in Marine Biology 63, edited by Michael Lesser, :197-246. Academic Press (Elsevier), 2013. ISBN: 9780123942821. doi:10.1016/B978-0-12-394282-1.00004-1Sound is the primary sensory cue for most marine mammals, and this is especially true for
cetaceans. To passively and actively acquire information about their environment, cetaceans
have perhaps the most derived ears of all mammals, capable of sophisticated, sensitive hearing
and auditory processing. These capabilities have developed for survival in an underwater world
where sound travels five times faster than in air, and where light is quickly attenuated and often
limited at depth, at night, and in murky waters. Cetacean auditory evolution has capitalized on
the ubiquity of sound cues and the efficiency of underwater acoustic communication. The sense
of hearing is central to cetacean sensory ecology, enabling vital behaviors such as locating prey,
detecting predators, identifying conspecifics, and navigating. Increasing levels of anthropogenic
ocean noise appears to influence many of these activities.
Here we describe the historical progress of investigations on cetacean hearing, with a
particular focus on odontocetes and recent advancements. While this broad topic has been
studied for several centuries, new technologies in the last two decades have been leveraged to
improve our understanding of a wide range of taxa, including some of the most elusive species.
This paper addresses topics including how sounds are received, what sounds are detected,
hearing mechanisms for complex acoustic scenes, recent anatomy and physiology studies, the
potential impacts of noise, and mysticete hearing. We conclude by identifying emerging
research topics and areas which require greater focus. In compiling this review, TAM was supported by the John E. and Anne W. Sawyer Endowed

Bodily memory and emotional expressions of male members of the army with direct experience of war
This article focuses on bodily memory and emotional expressions of the Russian male militaries who participated in the Afghanistan war. The research aims to reveal the axis structure of bodily memory and to analyze the structural elements of emotionality objectified in narrations of the male Afghan veterans. The author reflects the loci of concentrated bodily memory, such as corporal inscriptions and skin writings which are optical, perceptible and indelible. They function as “the truth” about the past imprinted on the male body. The following questions are discussed in the article. How does bodily memory function in male militaries’ narrations? What are the results of bodily memory work? What role do emotions play during the process of remembering? What kind of emotions do male veterans express in their narrations?
