Hispanic Women Entrepreneurs: Human Capital, Financial Capital, And Network Structure Relationships

In this paper, Hispanic women entrepreneurs are examined through a variety of perspectives.  First, the analysis presented is an overview of miscellaneous characteristics, including financial information, age and marital status.  The analysis continues with a look at the relationships between human capital, financial capital and network structures for the Hispanic women entrepreneurs.  The study thus serves three purposes.  First, it explores in depth areas of women entrepreneurship that are not always given an extensive focus; namely human capital and network structures.  Second, it delineates how these dimensions are measured and are related to each other.  Finally, it adds to the limited body of research on Hispanic women entrepreneurs, providing additional illumination for this sector

TESTE DE GENÓTIPOS DE ARROZ EM CASA DE VEGETAÇÃO PARA CULTIVO DE SEQUEIRO NA ZONA DA MATA DE PERNAMBUCO

Em Pernambuco, já se utiliza cultivares indicadas para o plantio de irrigação por inundação na região do submédio São Francisco, mas o registro de materiais indicados para o cultivo de sequeiro na Zona da Mata de Pernambuco é inexistente. O presente trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar o comportamento de determinados materiais de arroz irrigado para as condições de sequeiro na Zona da Mata do Estado de Pernambuco. O experimento foi conduzido em Recife – Pernambuco no primeiro semestre de 2010, em casa–de–vegetação, em delineamento experimental inteiramente casualizado com três repetições. Cada parcela foi composta de 9 kg de solo onde foram semeadas 20 sementes de cada linhagem de arroz, em sacos de polietileno. O solo foi mantido em capacidade de campo e irrigado com regador, sempre que necessário. Os genótipos Diamante e SCS BRS–113 – Tio Taka apresentaram um dos mais elevados percentuais de germinação (14 dias) e produção de grãos. O genótipo BRS – Biguá apresentou o porte mais baixo, consequentemente, o mais satisfatório na colheita, embora tenha apresentado na fase de plântula (até os 25 dias) o segundo porte mais elevado. Todos os materiais apresentaram vigor satisfatório indicando aptidão para o cultivo em sequeiro

A arquitetura da sentença e as posições do sujeito – um estudo cartográfico sobre a duplicação do sujeito pré-verbal no português brasileiro

O seguinte trabalho é composto pelo resultado e conclusão finais do projeto de pesquisa “A arquitetura da sentença e as posições do sujeito - Um estudo cartográfico sobre a duplicação do sujeito pré-verbal no Português Brasileiro”, que foi orientado e supervisionado pela Profa e Dra Sandra Quarezemin. O propósito da pesquisa foi, através de um panorama inicial sobre os estudos de sintaxe gerativa desde a teoria de Princípios e Parâmetros até o desenvolvimento da escola cartográfica, discutir o funcionamento, o comportamento e a projeção na hierarquia sentencial do sujeito duplo no Português Brasileiro (PB), composto por um Sintagma Determinante (DP) seguido de um pronome pessoal . Dentre todas as propostas analisadas e estudadas envolvendo a questão do redobro do sujeito, optou-se por abraçar a proposta de Cardinaletti e Starke (1994), que repercutiu nas propostas de Quarezemin (2019,2020) e Krieck (2022). A partir da análise dessas propostas, chega-se à conclusão de que diante de pronomes resumptivos fortes, o PR ocupa a posição de Spec de SubjP e o DP a posição de Spec de TopP; e diante de pronomes resumptivos clíticos, o PR ocupa o Subj°, enquanto que o DP ocupa o Spec de SubjP

Songs of Limitless Love: A Translation and Critical Exploration of Suzukake Shin’s Ai wo utae

This thesis is a translation and analysis of select tanka from the tanka anthology, Ai wo utae (Sing Love), by Suzukake Shin, an openly gay Japanese contemporary tanka poet. Published by Seidosha in 2019, the anthology contains twenty-eight rensaku (sequences) with a total of 295 individual tanka. In this thesis, I have translated six of the twenty-eight rensaku for a total of sixty-three individual tanka. Tanka are a thirty-one syllable Japanese poem that has its roots in the Heian Period (794-1185). Before presenting my English translations of Suzukake’s tanka, I give a critical introduction that consists of three main sections: Background, Analysis by Theme, and Translation Commentary. In the background section I discuss Suzukake\u27s biography and give a brief history of tanka to lay out the genre and place Suzukake in it. Next, in the analysis section I identify and discuss three major themes representative of Suzukake’s essence as a poet through detailed analysis of select tanka which exemplify the themes. The three major themes are: The Natural: Nature & the Body, The Everyday: Objects & Experiences, and The Technological: Technology & a Modern World. Finally, in the last section I discuss my overall approach to tanka translation in addition to major theories drawn from the translation studies field which have informed my translation process. I have also included an afterword which discusses why I believe gayness does not take on a theme of itself in Suzukake’s tanka

Case Report: Protothecal Tenosynovitis

Protothecosis is a rare infection caused by achlorophyllic algae called Prototheca. Approximately 117 cases have been described in the literature world wide, the majority caused by the species P. wickerhamii. Cutaneous infection is the most common and cases of tenosynovitis are very rare. A local or systemic immunosuppressive factor is seen in half of the cases of protothecosis. We report a case of protothecal tenosynovitis in a middle-aged, immunocompetent woman that developed after she received sclerosing therapy of varicose veins. Administration of itraconazole with surgical débridement produced a good response. We also review the published cases of protothecal tenosynovitis
