Testing high resolution SD ADC’s by using the noise transfer function
A new solution to improve the testability of high resolution SD Analogue to Digital Converters (SD ADC’s) using the quantizer input as test node is described. The theoretical basis for the technique is discussed and results from high level simulations for a 16 bit, 4th order, audio ADC are presented. The analysis demonstrates the potential to reduce the computational effort associated with test response analysis versus conventional techniques
Sicurezza nelle reti: utilizzo di architetture multi-core per il monitoraggio del traffico IP
The IP packet capture activity has always assumed great importance in the computer networks security. It's daily used in fact to monitor and analyze the IP traffic passing through a computer networks with the purpose to identify anomalous behaviors that could be associated with security problems. The new infrastructures for high throughput networks, also used in small or medium sized local networks, have made this activity more and more difficult showing some limits of the most recent multi-core capture systems used today. This paper has the purpose to describe the main technologies used in a generic capture system, to identify its possible limits, to diagnose its causes and to discover the possible solutions that must be adopte

TCC (graduação) - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina. Centro de Comunicação e Expressão. Jornalismo.
Wearable Platform for Automatic Recognition of Parkinson Disease by Muscular Implication Monitoring
The need for diagnostic tools for the characterization of progressive movement disorders - as the Parkinson Disease (PD) - aiming to early detect and monitor the pathology is getting more and more impelling. The parallel request of wearable and wireless solutions, for the real-time monitoring in a non-controlled environment, has led to the implementation of a Quantitative Gait Analysis platform for the extraction of muscular implications features in ordinary motor action, such as gait. The here proposed platform is used for the quantification of PD symptoms. Addressing the wearable trend, the proposed architecture is able to define the real-time modulation of the muscular indexes by using 8 EMG wireless nodes positioned on lower limbs. The implemented system “translates” the acquisition in a 1-bit signal, exploiting a dynamic thresholding algorithm. The resulting 1-bit signals are used both to define muscular indexes both to drastically reduce the amount of data to be analyzed, preserving at the same time the muscular information. The overall architecture has been fully implemented on Altera Cyclone V FPGA. The system has been tested on 4 subjects: 2 affected by PD and 2 healthy subjects (control group). The experimental results highlight the validity of the proposed solution in Disease recognition and the outcomes match the clinical literature results
The Roles of Labor and Profitability in Choosing a Grazing Strategy for Beef Production in the U.S. Gulf Coast Region
Comparisons are made concerning labor required and profitability associated with continuous grazing at three stocking rates and rotational grazing at a high stocking rate in the U.S. Gulf Coast region. A unique data set was collected using a time and motion study method to determine labor requirements. Profits are lowest for low stocking rate– continuous grazing and high stocking rate–rotational grazing. Total labor and labor in three specific categories are greater on per acre and/or per cow bases with rotational-grazing than with continuous-grazing strategies. These results help to explain relatively low adoption rates of rotational grazing in the region.labor requirements, rotational grazing, stocking rate, time and motion study, Agribusiness, Food Consumption/Nutrition/Food Safety, Industrial Organization, Labor and Human Capital, Livestock Production/Industries, Q12, Q24,
Lane, pecore e pastori in Puglia fra Tardoantico e Medioevo: novità dai dati archeozoologici
This paper deals with the bioarchaeological researches on ovine transhumance in Apulia from the Late Antiquity to the Medieval Age, with particular regard to the contribution of the zooarchaeological researches. By integrating historical, epigraphic, archaeological and bioarchaeological data it is now possible to re-enact the development and the characters of the sheep/goat movements and the transhumance products, such as wool and milk, from the 4th to the 15th c. A.D.
Archaeobotanical and archaeoantropological data indicate that Apulian landscape was characterized by uncultivated areas (woods, marshlands or pasture) from Roman to the Late Antique Ages; zooarchaeological analysis propose the continuity of sheep/goat breeding until the Middle Ages, in spite of some changes, with a prevalent and continuous wool production activity. In this way the study of faunal remains can integrate the knowledge by new evaluation elements such as the mortality and the periodical slaughtering, with regard to the identification of the species in a specific territorial context and the breeding purposes. Besides the mortality data also the sexual distinction is important; a constant element is the ovine prevalence in the sheep/goat flock composition. Taking into consideration the pastoral practice from the Late Antiquity to the Middle Ages it is possible to pick out some elements that are compatible with a transhumant management of the flocks, such as a general staging post of the size on medium-big one and the above average recorded in other Italian and European sites
Electron collection by a charged satellite in the ionospheric plasma
The space charge region surrounding a highly charged, electron collecting, spacecraft moving in the ionospheric plasma, can be divided into an inner zone (close to the spacecraft), where electron collection is isotropic with respect to the magnetic-field direction, and an outer zone where the electrons are mainly collected along magnetic field lines. In this paper we outline a theory to obtain the
current voltage characteristic of such a positive satellite. It is shown that the theoretical results compare very favorably with the experimental data obtained by
the TSS-1R mission
Current collection by a highly positive body moving in the ionospheric plasma
In this paper we derive an interesting feature of the space charge region surrounding a positively charged body moving in a magnetoplasma and, precisely, the fact that, for potentials of the body in excess of a certain value, at least in an inner region close to the body, the electron collection (and the structure of the self-consistent
potential) is isotropic. This is used to derive
current-voltage characteristics for such a situation. These theoretical characteristics are then convincingly compared with those obtained from the analysis of the data obtained during the recently flown TSS-1R mission
