Vatsan monivaiheinen tietokonetomografiatutkimus: opetusvideo röntgenhoitajaopiskelijoille : indikaationa maksatuumori
Opinnäytetyön tuotoksena valmistui opetusvideo, jonka aiheena on vatsan monivaiheisen tietokonetomografiatutkimuksen suorittaminen. Teoriaosiossa käsitellään yleisimpiä maligneja maksatuumoreita ja videon käyttöä opetusmateriaalina. Tuote julkaistiin Tampereen ammattikorkeakoulun Röntgenhoitajakoulutuksen Youtube-kanavalla. Opetusvideossa käydään läpi vatsan monivaiheisen tietokonetomografiatutkimuksen suorittaminen röntgenhoitajan näkökulmasta, sekä kerrotaan jodivarjoaineen käytöstä. Kehittämisehdotuksena on videoiden teko muista vaativista kuvantamistutkimuksista, joita koulutuksessa on vaikea lähiopetuksena toteuttaa.Modern society provides more and more educational material to the virtual environment, which helps students to revise information that they have learned earlier. Educational videos should be simple, easy to understand and relevant. (all meaningless distractions should be cut off.)
The objective of this study was to increase secondary radiographer students’ knowledge about the process of triple-phase abdominal computed tomography with the elements of an educational video. The purpose of this study was to prepare an educational video about triple-phase abdominal computed tomography for the radiographer students of Tampere University of Applied Sciences. This study had a functional approach starting with outlining a theoretical framework for an educational video, as well as for triple-phase abdominal computed tomography. The cooperative partners in this study were Tampere University of Applied Sciences and Pirkanmaa Hospital District.
The product of this thesis is an educational video about the process of triple-phase abdominal computed tomography. The video clip was released on the YouTube channel of Tampere University of Applied Sciences. A suggestion for potential further study is to produce educational videos on other challenging radiographic examinations
Influence of Training Techniques and Housing Environments on Horse Success in an Object Choice Test
This study examined the influence of training techniques and housing environments on the
success of horses in following distal sustained human pointing and sustained body orientation.
Understanding how external factors affect horses’ interpretation of human non-verbal
communication is central for enhancing training practices, improving welfare, and ensuring safety
in human-horse interactions.
We employed the Object Choice Test (OCT), a commonly used method for assessing an animal's
response to human cues. The success of 34 adult horses was recorded in two separate test times and
then analysed. A comparison was made between subjects trained solely and partly with positive
reinforcement or solely with negative reinforcement. Regarding housing environments, the
comparison was between horses in open stable group housing and traditional social isolation stallpaddock housing. We hypothesised that horses trained with positive reinforcement and those housen
in open stables would perform better due to previously reported favourable effects on cognition.
Only three horses passed the pointing condition and five passed the body orientation, with a
statistically significant difference. This indicates that the OCT is a challenging task for horses overall
being especially the case with pointing. Our results align with most previous publications in terms
of general success. However, they greatly differ from an earlier study using the same study protocol,
where the overall success was high and better with pointing in comparison to body orientation.
As expected, the training technique affected the performance. All the successful horses in our
study were in the positive reinforcement group. Being subject to negative reinforcement
significantly correlated with being unsuccessful with both of the cues. Our study is the first to assess
the impact of positive reinforcement training on horses' performance in the OCT, offering new
insights into the role of the technique in enhancing cognitive responsiveness. No correlation was
found for housing environment despite being hypothesised after a previous study on horses and
OCT. This and other aspects of our study are discussed in depth.
These results underscore the importance of training in shaping horses' cognitive abilities, with
implications for developing more effective and humane training methods. Further research is needed
to explore the underlying mechanisms and the potential influence of environmental factors
Review article : coeliac disease in later life must not be missed
Background: The presenting symptoms of coeliac disease are often subtle and the diagnosis is frequently delayed or overlooked. Therefore, especially elderly patients may be denied the benefits conferred by gluten free diet which can be dramatically life-changing. Aim: To review the occurrence, clinical features, diagnosis and management in coeliac patients detected later in life. Methods: To review manuscripts concerned with coeliac disease in the elderly and to derive subgroups of elderly people from publications on the disorder. Results: Approximately a quarter of all diagnoses are now made at the age of 60 years or more and a fifth at 65 years or over. About 4% are diagnosed at 80 years or above. Around 60% remain undetected, since their symptoms are often subtle: tiredness, indigestion, reduced appetite. Good compliance with gluten free diet, resolution of symptoms and improvement in laboratory indices can be achieved in over 90% of patients. Conclusions: Coeliac disease not uncommonly presents for the first time in older patients and is an important diagnosis to make.Peer reviewe

Suomen sota-ajan vaikuttavuus kasvatukseen
Consumer purchase journeys in multiple channels: A consumer-centric approach
As multichannel and omnichannel retailing become imperative themes for today's retailers and for marketing literature, the consumer's perspective to the phenomenon should be stressed further. Hence, the goal of this research is to describe the journeys that consumers experience while shopping in multiple channels. This description is experiential, holistic and consumer-centric. The sub-goal is to find the motivations for consumers to engage in multichannel shopping. The research paradigm is experiential phenomenology and the data for this qualitative research was collected with 8 open interviews and altogether 12 stories of multichannel shopping of medium and high involvement goods.
The main finding is that the participants engaged in multichannel shopping to ensure product quality. They were demonstrating this by trying to find a product that they would be still using after some times has passed, by evaluating how long the product would last without breaking, by trying to find a reliable channel for the purchase, by finding out other people's experiences and opinions, and by buying from a brand they already trust. Another behavior showing from the data was following the market as a hobby or as a habit - as opposed to purposeful research-shopping. Some of the research participants also purposefully aimed to switch companies during their journeys to gain better picture of the product offering and pricing. Some participants, however, were locked in to the channels of one particular retailer, which would indicate that company lock-in can be achieved.
The research findings support the notion that consumer chooses the channel for a certain purchase stage, learns from the experience and this learning influences both consumer's task definition and personal factors. The findings also support that in addition to task definition and personal factors also situational factors, channel attributes, social influence and retailer or brand actions act as determinants of channel choice, and influence how the multichannel purchase journey is formed. However, as the research is exploratory in nature, further research is needed in order to apply this to the general audience.
In order to understand their multichannel customers better, retailers and brands should gain insight on what stage and purpose are their customers filling in each of the retailer's channels and what other channels they may be using. The recommendation is to evaluate whether company lock-in and a seamless omnichannel experience would be possible to create, and to which group of customers. Indicators of quality can be added to channels to better fulfill the consumers' need for ensuring product quality. For further research, evaluation on the theoretical framework and the determinants of channel choice, for example in a quantitative manner, is in order
