Proyecto de Graduación (Licenciatura en Ingeniería en Construcción) Instituto Tecnológico de Costa Rica, Escuela de Ingeniería en Construcción, 2016.The issue of productivity in construction in Costa Rica has been in progress over time but still lack knowledge about it. It is worth mentioning that not only sufficient for a process to be executed quickly, since it must have a comprehensive balance between runtimes and quality of the final product to achieve benefits both economy and on time. This project has as principal objective the analysis and improvement of the construction process of placing concrete in walls and columns and the placing and the removing of formwork in the same elements, in the QBO Skyhomes project of the construction company H Solís. To achieve evaluating the productivity they were used the method of Work Sampling and Crew Balance making thirty-six samples. Although To assess productivity, methods like "Work Sampling" and "Crew Balance" were used, making a total of 36 samples . Besides obtaining yields of the processes, took place an improvement proposal developed based on negative factors found and process control templates such as: concrete placing, placing and removing formwork, in walls and columns. Among the most striking findings was the determination of, what factors were affecting the productivity and performance of the activities studied, such as delays in concrete arrivals, inadequate size of crew, problems with crane time planning and lack of a lift for loading of materials and people within the project. Control templates proposed were assessed for a period of one week in removing formwork, in which assessed the quality of the walls that had been worked. Thus it was concluded broadly that the walls had been evaluated with an "'Optimal criteria".H Solí

    Polymerized-Type I Collagen Induces Upregulation of Foxp3-Expressing CD4 Regulatory T Cells and Downregulation of IL-17-Producing CD4+ T Cells (Th17) Cells in Collagen-Induced Arthritis

Previous studies showed that polymerized-type I collagen (polymerized collagen) exhibits potent immunoregulatory properties. This work evaluated the effect of intramuscular administration of polymerized collagen in early and established collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) in mice and analyzed changes in Th subsets following therapy. Incidence of CIA was of 100% in mice challenged with type II collagen. Clinimorphometric analysis showed a downregulation of inflammation after administration of all treatments (P < 0.05). Histological analysis showed that the CIA-mice group had extensive bone erosion, pannus and severe focal inflammatory infiltrates. In contrast, there was a remarkable reduction in the severity of arthritis in mice under polymerized collagen, methotrexate or methotrexate/polymerized collagen treatment. Polymerized Collagen but not methotrexate induced tissue joint regeneration. Polymerized Collagen and methotrexate/polymerized collagen but not methotrexate alone induces downregulation of CD4+/IL17A+ T cells and upregulation of Tregs and CD4+/IFN-γ+ T cells. Thus, Polymerized Collagen could be an effective therapeutic agent in early and established rheumatoid arthritis by exerting downregulation of autoimmune inflammation

AbstractInnovative model: "Nurses Care Coping Strategies in an Intensive Care Unit."Objective: Foster care in coping with stress through the Health Education in nurses working in Intensive Care Unit (ICU).Methods: quantitative techniques qualitative phenomenological orientation. Participants were ten nurses of ICU, different shifts, times indistinct. Results: The job stressors which showed higher averages were: staff shortages, lack of equipment and material, work overload, lack of medicine, social insecurity, and the lowest in interpersonal relationships with peers. And lack of coping with stress. Conclusions: The application of this model involves a process of change aimed at developing a way of working, caring nursing staff. Having a new perspective of care, focusing on the needs of the ICU nurse, which promotes coping with stress for care

I-CARE, a European Prospective Cohort Study Assessing Safety and Effectiveness of Biologics in Inflammatory Bowel Disease

background and aims: there is a need to evaluate the benefit-risk ratio of current therapies in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients to provide the best quality of care. the primary objective of I-CARE (IBD cancer and serious infections in europe) was to assess prospectively safety concerns in IBD, with specific focus on the risk of cancer/lymphoma and serious infections in patients treated with anti-tumor necrosis factor and other biologic monotherapy as well as in combination with immunomodulators. methods: I-CARE was designed as a european prospective longitudinal observational multicenter cohort study to include patients with a diagnosis of crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, or IBD unclassified established at least 3 months prior to enrollment. results: a total of 10,206 patients were enrolled between march 2016 and april 2019, including 6169 (60.4%) patients with crohn's disease, 3853 (37.8%) with ulcerative colitis, and 184 (1.8%) with a diagnosis of IBD unclassified. thirty-two percent of patients were receiving azathioprine/thiopurines, 4.6% 6-mercaptopurine, and 3.2% methotrexate at study entry. at inclusion, 47.3% of patients were treated with an anti-tumor necrosis factor agent, 8.8% with vedolizumab, and 3.4% with ustekinumab. roughly one-quarter of patients (26.8%) underwent prior IBD-related surgery. sixty-six percent of patients had been previously treated with systemic steroids. three percent of patients had a medical history of cancer prior to inclusion and 1.1% had a history of colonic, esophageal, or uterine cervix high-grade dysplasia. conclusions: I-CARE is an ongoing investigator-initiated observational european prospective cohort study that will provide unique information on the long-term benefits and risks of biological therapies in IBD patients.
