Managing innovation in English language education, state of the art review.
Innovation in English language education (ELE) has become a major ‘growth area’ in recent years. At the same time, an ELE innovation management literature has also developed, based on insights from innovation theory and their application, both from outside and within ELE, and concerned with attempting to critically evaluate and inform ELE innovation practice. Thus, using a well-established three-part framework for distinguishing the main stages involved in innovation project management, this review describes and discusses the main features of this body of work. After defining terms and clarifying its scope, it considers what is said about the innovation ‘initiation’ phase, in terms of innovation causes, characteristics and contexts. It then examines conceptualisations of the innovation ‘implementation’ stage, by distinguishing main overall approaches, frameworks for identifying and configuring roles, underlying psychological processes, and the use of evaluation techniques. Lastly, the literature relating to innovation ‘institutionalisation’ stage is analysed. The article concludes by identifying overall trends and areas for further development. In particular, it is argued that ELE innovation work needs to become more informed by many of the concepts and procedures which the ELE innovation management literature contains

Unique Determination of Sound Speeds for Coupled Systems of Semi-linear Wave Equations
We consider coupled systems of semi-linear wave equations with different
sound speeds on a finite time interval and a bounded Lipschitz domain
in , with boundary . We show the coupled
systems are well posed for variable coefficient sounds speeds and short times.
Under the assumption of small initial data, we prove the source to solutions
map on associated with the nonlinear problem is
sufficient to determine the source-to-solution map for the linear problem. We
can then reconstruct the sound speeds in for the coupled nonlinear
wave equations under certain geometric assumptions. In the case of the full
source to solution map in this reconstruction could also be
accomplished under fewer geometric assumptions.Comment: minor update
Low Regularity Ray Tracing for Wave Equations with Gaussian beams
We prove observability estimates for oscillatory Cauchy data modulo a small
kernel for -dimensional wave equations with space and time dependent
and coefficients using Gaussian beams. We assume the domains and
observability regions are in , and the GCC applies. This work
generalizes previous observability estimates to higher dimensions and time
dependent coefficients. The construction for the Gaussian beamlets solving
wave equations represents an improvement and simplification over
Waters (2011).Comment: this version shortens and changes the previous construction and
contains an extension to space time dependent coefficient
Artemis: Depictions of Form and Femininity in Sculpture
Grecian sculpture has been the subject of investigation for centuries. More recently, however, emphasis in the field of Art History on the politics of gender and sexuality portrayal have opened new avenues for investigation of those old statues. In depicting gender, Ancient Greek statuary can veer towards the non-binary, with the most striking examples being works depicting Hermaphroditos and ‘his’ bodily form. Yet even within the binary, there are complications. Depictions of the goddess Artemis are chief among these complications of the binary, with even more contradiction, subtext, and varied interpretation than representations of Amazons. The numerous ways Artemis has been portrayed over the years highlight her multifarious aspects, but often paint a contradictory portrait of her femininity. Is she the wild mother? The asexual huntress? Or is she a tempting virgin, whose purity is at risk? Depictions of her in sculptural form, deliberately composed, offer answers. Though as separate depictions they sometimes contradict one another, as a whole, they reveal just how Artemis the female was thought of
