Tuned mass damper parameters design for structural systems via linear matrix inequality and genetic algorithm
The tuned mass damper parameters designing for structural systems based on combining linear matrix inequality with genetic algorithm is of concern in this paper. Firstly, based on matrix transform, the novel model description with a singular style for structural systems is obtained, in which the possible coupling of those uncertainties is avoided. Secondly, an approach, which combines linear matrix inequality with genetic algorithm, is taken in this work to solving the optimization problems, and the optimized tuned mass damper parameters can be obtained by solving the optimization problems such that the tuned-mass-damper-controlled systems have a prescribed level of vibration attenuation performance. Furthermore, the obtained results are also extended to the uncertain cases. Finally, the effectiveness of the obtained theorems is demonstrated by numerical simulation results

Cross-sectional prevalence and risk factors for otitis media and hearing loss in Australian children aged 5 to 7 years : a prospective cohort study
BACKGROUND: This study aimed to provide estimates of the prevalence and associated risk factors for otitis media (OM) and hearing loss among urban Australian school-aged children. METHODS: This prospective cohort of participants were recruited from the Western Australian Pregnancy Cohort (Raine) Study, a pregnancy cohort established in Perth, Australia between 1989 and 1991. This study examines 1,344 2nd Generation Raine Study participants who completed tympanometry and audiometry assessment at 5 to 7 years of age. Primary outcomes included the presence of OM, diagnosed by tympanometry, and hearing sensitivity. The impact of thirteen other potential prenatal and environmental exposures were analyzed as secondary outcomes. RESULTS: The study found the cross-sectional prevalence of OM at 5 to 7 years of age was 22.5% (n=302). The prevalence of unilateral and bilateral OM was 11% (n=148) and 11.5% (n=155), respectively. The prevalence of bilateral hearing loss ≥26 dB four-frequency average was 2.1%. CONCLUSIONS: The high prevalence of OM and its associated hearing loss persisting up to and beyond the age of school entry (5 to 7 years) is concerning as a significant hearing loss may interfere with their educational and social development. One in ten children with OM diagnosed by tympanometry had a significant, bilateral hearing loss.https://www.theajo.compm2021Speech-Language Pathology and Audiolog

Distributed Consensus Control for Discrete-Time T–S Fuzzy Multiple-Agent Systems Based on an Unknown Input Observer
This paper investigates a consensus problem for a class of T–S fuzzy multiple-agent systems (MASs) with unknown input (UI). To begin with, an unknown input observer (UIO) is able to asymptotically estimate the system state and the UI is designed for each agent. In order to construct the UIO, the state interval estimation is obtained by first using zonotope theory. Next, using the interval estimation of the state, a correlation of the state and the UI is built. Subsequently, a UIO is constructed, which is proposed by building upon the algebraic relationship. Moreover, by using the estimations of the state and the UI, a distributed control protocol is developed based on the proposed UIO. And, with the proposed distributed control protocol, the T–S fuzzy MAS can achieve consensus, in that all the states of the agents can converge to the leader’s state asymptotically. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated through two simulation examples
