Common Interactions between S100A4 and S100A9 Defined by a Novel Chemical Probe.

S100A4 and S100A9 proteins have been described as playing roles in the control of tumor growth and metastasis. We show here that a chemical probe, oxyclozanide (OX), selected for inhibiting the interaction between S100A9 and the receptor for advanced glycation end-products (RAGE) interacts with both S100A9 and S100A4. Furthermore, we show that S100A9 and S100A4 interact with RAGE and TLR4; interactions that can be inhibited by OX. Hence, S100A4 and S100A9 display similar functional elements despite their primary sequence diversity. This was further confirmed by showing that S100A4 and S100A9 dimerize both in vitro and in vivo. All of these interactions required levels of Zn(++) that are found in the extracellular space but not intracellularly. Interestingly, S100A4 and S100A9 are expressed by distinct CD11b(+) subpopulations both in healthy animals and in animals with either inflammatory disease or tumor burden. The functions of S100A9 and S100A4 described in this paper, including heterodimerization, may therefore reflect S100A9 and S100A4 that are released into the extra-cellular milieu

Med det här projektet har jag analyserat den samtida bostadsarkitekturen och försökt identifiera återkommande mönster och normer med hjälp av olika metoder. Jag vill undersöka hur arkitektur har formats av olika ideal, standardmått, regler och ekonomiska begränsningar. Syftet är att peka på hur produktionen är normativ och reproducerar normer, men också hur en del av bostadens egenskaper gått förlorade i det rådande bostadsklimatet. Det är viktigt att ifrågasätta hur bostäder är utformade idag och hur arkitekturen, som tydligt normaliserar en viss typ av liv, påverkar de boende. Kanske kan mitt arbete öppna upp ögonen för vad ett hem kan vara för olika individer och familjer, samt hur viktigt det är att ha tolkningsmöjligheter och att kunna skapa sin egen identitet i sitt hem. Samtidigt vill jag lyfta fram behovet av att få in vissa arkitektoniska kvaliteter i en interiör för att stärka relationen mellan rum och liv. Med det vill jag visa att inredningsarkitektens kompetens är viktig för framtida bostadsplanering.With this project I  have analyzed the contemporary residential architecture and tried to identify recurring patterns and norms using different methods. I want to investigate how architecture has been shaped by different ideals, standard measurements, rules and financial constraints. The aim is to point out how the production is normative and reproduces norms, but also how some of the properties of the home have been lost in the current housing climate. It is important to question how housing is designed today and how the architecture, which clearly normalizes a certain type of life, affects the residents. Perhaps my work can open the eyes to what a home can be for different individuals and families, as well as how important it is to have interpretation possibilities and to be able to create your own identity in your home. At the same time, I want to highlight the need to bring certain architectural qualities into an interior to strengthen the relationship between space and life. By doing that, I want to show that the interior designer's skills are important for future housing planning

Hur integreras grammatik och kommunikativa övningar i moderna språk? – En analys av läromedel i tyska och franska för skolår 9

Syftet med arbetet är att undersöka om det finns en tydlig koppling mellan grammatik och kommunikativa färdigheter i två läromedel för moderna språk i skolår 9, ett i franska och ett i tyska. Metoden som vi använder är alltså en komparativ textundersökning av två brukstexter. För att nå svar på våra frågeställningar har vi format våra egna variabler med förankring i aktuell språkinlärningsforskning som utgångspunkt för vår textanalys. Resultaten visar att det finns en tydlig koppling mellan grammatik och kommunikation i båda läromedlen, men att övningarna i för stor utsträckning är inriktade på styrning och reproduktion. Båda läromedlen följer aktuell forskning kring språkinlärning, men det i franska tenderar i något större utsträckning att använda målspråket som arbetsspråk samt tillämpar ett induktivt arbetssätt för grammatikinlärning. Detta är mindre tydligt i läromedlet i tyska som arbetar deduktivt och kontrastivt samt med svenska som arbetsspråk. Slutsatsen är att som språklärare måste man alltid vara uppdaterad vad gäller språkdidaktikisk forskning för att ha kunskap om hur läromedlen ska tolkas på rätt sätt
