A Plausibility Semantics for Abstract Argumentation Frameworks

    Get PDF
We propose and investigate a simple ranking-measure-based extension semantics for abstract argumentation frameworks based on their generic instantiation by default knowledge bases and the ranking construction semantics for default reasoning. In this context, we consider the path from structured to logical to shallow semantic instantiations. The resulting well-justified JZ-extension semantics diverges from more traditional approaches.Comment: Proceedings of the 15th International Workshop on Non-Monotonic Reasoning (NMR 2014). This is an improved and extended version of the author's ECSQARU 2013 pape

Charged Higgs production with a top in MC@NLO

The production in association with a top quark is the most promising search channel for charged Higgs bosons at the LHC. We review its theoretical description including next-to-leading order corrections and the combination with a parton shower. The latter allows us to for the first time answer questions about the kinematics of all jets in the process. We then describe the consistent subtraction of intermediate states and present new results about the bottom mass uncertainty impacting the parton densisities.Comment: Proceedings `Prospects for Charged Higgs Discovery at Colliders', including new results on bottom mass induced uncertainty, on-shell subtraction, and reference cross section

In the context of a general revision framework, we propose and take a first look at revision strategies for epistemic ranking measures reaching beyond minimal Jeffrey-conditionalization, a variant of Spohn-style revision

Level rearrangement in exotic atoms and quantum dots

    Get PDF
A presentation and a generalisation are given of the phenomenon of level rearrangement, which occurs when an attractive long-range potential is supplemented by a short-range attractive potential of increasing strength. This problem has been discovered in condensate-matter physics and has also been studied in the physics of exotic atoms. A similar phenomenon occurs in a situation inspired by quantum dots, where a short-range interaction is added to an harmonic confinement.Comment: 12 pages, 11 figures, RevTeX

Associated production of charged Higgs bosons and top quarks with POWHEG

    Get PDF
The associated production of charged Higgs bosons and top quarks at hadron colliders is an important discovery channel to establish the existence of a non-minimal Higgs sector. Here, we present details of a next-to-leading order (NLO) calculation of this process using the Catani-Seymour dipole formalism and describe its implementation in POWHEG, which allows to match NLO calculations to parton showers. Numerical predictions are presented using the PYTHIA parton shower and are compared to those obtained previously at fixed order, to a leading order calculation matched to the PYTHIA parton shower, and to a different NLO calculation matched to the HERWIG parton shower with MC@NLO. We also present numerical predictions and theoretical uncertainties for various Two Higgs Doublet Models at the Tevatron and LHC.Comment: 36 page

Un nouveau ravageur menaçant pour les cultures fruitières biologiques : Drosophila suzukii

    Get PDF
A new pest has been officially described in France in 2010. Drosophila suzukii (also called Spotted-wing Drosophila) attacks many species of fruits, before ripening, and economic consequences are very important. Because of a very high fecundity and a great lack of knowledge on this invasive pest, there is a high need of applied research to provide efficient techniques to conventional and also organic farmers. Indeed, organic cherry or strawberry production is directly threatened by this new pest. The poster presents different control strategies and state of art for each of them
