Generation of Long-Lived Isomeric States via Bremsstrahlung Irradiation
A method to generate long-lived isomeric states effectively for Mossbauer
applications is reported. We demonstrate that this method is better and easier
to provide highly sensitive Mossbauer effect of long-lived isomers (>1ms) such
as 103Rh. Excitation of (gamma, gamma) process by synchrotron radiation is
painful due mainly to their limited linewidth. Instead,(gamma, gamma') process
of bremsstrahlung excitation is applied to create these long-lived isomers.
Isomers of 45Sc, 107Ag, 109Ag, and 103Rh have been generated from this method.
Among them, 103Rh is the only one that we have obtained the gravitational
effect at room temperature.Comment: ICAME 05 conference repor
Historyk starożytności a sztuka przekładu. Na marginesie tłumaczenia Żywotów sławnych mężów Plutarcha
The author takes a close look at translating ancient texts from the viewpoint of a historian. He explains why ancient historians are usually against the very idea of translating Greek and Latin literature. He then proceeds to argue that historical knowledge is an indispensable tool if a translation is to be done. This argument is supported by a detailed analysis of the standard Polish translation of two biographies by Plutarch, namely Life of Aristides and Life of Cimon
EDUKACJA PERMANENTNA – POTRZEBA I FORMY
The article concerns the actual and important for education of society problem of incessant education which belongs today to the essential tasks of academies and universities. The author of the article motivates the necessity of permanent education with several arguments, such as: the accentuated by contemporary developmental psychology need of continuous development of human person, the civilizing changes occurring in the contemporary world, the necessity of attaining new qualifications and competences and also the service to society. In the end part of the article the author shows this special form of permanent education, which are the universities of the third age.

Treatment Use Among Children with Tourette Syndrome Living in The United States, 2014
Treatment of Tourette syndrome (TS) can be complicated by changes over time in tic expression, severity, and co-occurring disorders. Using the 2014 National Survey of the Diagnosis and Treatment of ADHD and Tourette Syndrome, this study provides descriptive estimates of the use of behavioral interventions and medication among children living with TS. Parent-reported data on 115 children aged 5–17 years ever diagnosed with TS were analyzed to provide descriptive, unweighted results. Overall, 77.4% of children had current or past use of any TS treatment; 59.1% ever used behavioral interventions and 56.1% had ever taken TS medication. Children with moderate” or “severe” versus “mild” TS, ≥1 co-occurring disorders, and tics that interfered with functioning were significantly more likely to have used one or more TS treatments. Side effects were reported for 84.4% of children who took TS medication. Most parents of children with current TS (87.2%) were satisfied with the management of their child\u27s TS. However, parents of children with “moderate” or “severe” current TS were significantly more dissatisfied compared to parents of children with “mild” TS. Findings from this study could be used to inform efforts to support children living with TS and their families
Radiations from short-lived rare gas fission products,
The energies of the primary [gamma]-rays emitted in the decay of 3[middle dot]2 min 89Kr, 33 sec 90Kr, 1[middle dot]2 min 91mRb, 41 sec 139Xe, and 66 sec 140Cs were determined and relative [gamma]-ray intensities measured. Photon per disintegration values were estimated for 89Kr, 90Kr, 139Xe and for 9[middle dot]5 min 139Cs. [beta]-ray energy endpoints were measured for 89Kr, 90Kr, 139Xe and 139Cs, and lower limits established for the decay energies of these nuclides. A simple and rapid gas chromatographic separation which was developed for these studies is described.Peer Reviewedhttp://deepblue.lib.umich.edu/bitstream/2027.42/32283/1/0000345.pd
