One of methods could be applied to continuously meet the need of fish fry including catfish (Clarias sp.) is artificial propagation by inducing ovulation and spawning. As an alternative of existing method, in this study, ginger extract was intramuscularly injected to induce development of catfish eggs. Ginger is known as an important regulator of the balance of arachidonat cycle. The dose of ginger extract injected was 0, 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5 mL/kg broodstock. The results of study showed that injection 100% of ginger extracts in all doses was insignificantly inducing development of egg diameter and its nucleus position of catfish. Other chemicals exist in ginger extract might be functions as an obstacle for egg development of catfish

Keywords: catfish, Clarias sp., ginger, ovulation, egg   ABSTRAK Salah satu cara untuk memenuhi kebutuhan benih ikan termasuk lele (Clarias sp.) secara kontinyu adalah penggunaan teknologi pembiakan buatan melalui perangsangan ovulasi dan pemijahan.

The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative research method using the case study method. Qualitative descriptive research aims to describe, summarize various conditions and phenomena of social reality that exist in society which are the object of research and draw these social realities to the surface. Data analysis includes descriptive analysis and economic analysis related to changes in recommended commodities according to land conditions after conversion of agricultural land functions and associated social values analyzed. The results showed that 65 percent of farmers lost their agricultural land as a whole and the remaining 35 percent still owned their land intact. Farmers who lost their land changed jobs to become agricultural laborers, construction workers, breeders, traders and others who did not even work as much as 10 percent. Farmers who still cultivate agricultural crops choose to plant horticultural crops, namely eggplant, Chilies, kale, string beans and green beans. Total revenue of farmers after the earthquake and liquefaction decreased by 35.46 percent. However, from the income side, there was an increase in post-earthquake income by 0.97 percent. The values that change after a disaster are the value of rationality, economic value, the value of solidarity or mutual assistance and the value of education

Socio-economic adaptation strategy of farming communities after natural disasters

Abstract Indonesia is prone to natural disasters. It is being traversed by the meeting point of three tectonic plates, namely the Indo-Australian Plate, the Eurasian Plate, and the Pacific plate. The meeting point is in the sea. It will potentially cause a tsunami when if there is a big earthquake happens. The earthquake and tsunami disaster that occurred in Central Sulawesi also caused liquefaction (moving land). Liquidations that coincide with the earthquake are found in Jono Oge Village, Sigi Biromaru District, Sigi Regency, Central Sulawesi Province. This incident caused some agricultural land, such as paddy, corn, and vegetable gardens, to move even to disappear. Some farmers lose the desire for farming, caused hampered to their socio-economic life. This study purpose of determining the social-economic conditions of the farming community after natural disasters. Also, to find out the strategies of the farming community to adapt to changes that happened. The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method with a case study approach. The data used are primary data obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation studies as well as secondary data from various related agencies. Data analysis will go through three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions or data verification.</jats:p

Abstract Carita District, Banten was one of the districts affected by the tsunami in the Sunda Strait in 2018. With 2.668 hectares of land cover changing mainly in agriculture and urban areas. The land cover affected by the tsunami in the Carita Area consists of horticulture (24.11 ha), rice fields (2.70 ha) and buildings (4.91 ha). Residential areas, infrastructure and service sectors, especially tourism are also affected. According to the Carita District 2022-2042 RDTR (Detailed Spatial Plan), Carita District is still a tsunami-prone area. The purpose of this research is to provide a residential area forecast with spatial models, patterns, and directions for residential area development in the Carita region over the next 20 years. The method used in this research uses a cellular automata algorithm and a dynamic spatial model that utilizes the results to obtain an analytic hierarchy process score from expertise in the Carita District. Based on the results of the analysis there is an increase in settlements of 697%, some of which expanded in the southern and northern areas of Carita District. The results of the simulations that have been carried out can be input for the Carita District government in the direction of land use development</jats:p
