Photo collage-based photograph display system on mobile computing platform

In the last few decades, mobile computing platform technology has grown rapidly, as observed from smart phones that have quickly become ubiquitous. The mobile computing platform is the most widely used platform in our life today, and digital photographs captured through these devices have become routine for most people. In this study, we propose a novel artistic method for displaying photographs in mobile devices as a photo collage. Using our system, users can view a representative photograph as a collage of photographs associated with a certain event and access each of photographs individually. To implement this, we employ centroidal Voronoi diagram to obtain an even distribution of tiles, and use the sites as the location of tiles. We use the edge avoidance technique to prevent tiles from being located across the edges. To obtain the direction of tiles that follow near a strong edge, we employ the Edge tangent Flow field and use the field as the directions of tiles. Finally, we search for photographs that best match the tiles calculated above by using a thumbnail difference metric

This article discusses research on symbolism in wafak containing the Koran in Muslim communities. Wafak has other derivations such as hizb, ruqyah, and amulet is the practice of prayer which is used as a means of endeavor for a servant to be more taqarrub to Allah SWT. The research method used is qualitative, with the type of research being library research. The results of this study are that the wafak of the Qur'an as a symbol of the form of a servant's endeavor to get closer to Allah SWT. In addition, wafak al-Quran can be justified in Islam by following several provisions, one of which is to believe that wafak cannot give any effect, but that can be realized only because of Allah's destiny alone and wafak is only one of the reasons

Performance of the CMS Cathode Strip Chambers with Cosmic Rays

The Cathode Strip Chambers (CSCs) constitute the primary muon tracking device in the CMS endcaps. Their performance has been evaluated using data taken during a cosmic ray run in fall 2008. Measured noise levels are low, with the number of noisy channels well below 1%. Coordinate resolution was measured for all types of chambers, and fall in the range 47 microns to 243 microns. The efficiencies for local charged track triggers, for hit and for segments reconstruction were measured, and are above 99%. The timing resolution per layer is approximately 5 ns

What is a smart device? - a conceptualisation within the paradigm of the internet of things

The Internet of Things (IoT) is an interconnected network of objects which range from simple sensors to smartphones and tablets; it is a relatively novel paradigm that has been rapidly gaining ground in the scenario of modern wireless telecommunications with an expected growth of 25 to 50 billion of connected devices for 2020 Due to the recent rise of this paradigm, authors across the literature use inconsistent terms to address the devices present in the IoT, such as mobile device, smart device, mobile technologies or mobile smart device. Based on the existing literature, this paper chooses the term smart device as a starting point towards the development of an appropriate definition for the devices present in the IoT. This investigation aims at exploring the concept and main features of smart devices as well as their role in the IoT. This paper follows a systematic approach for reviewing compendium of literature to explore the current research in this field. It has been identified smart devices as the primary objects interconnected in the network of IoT, having an essential role in this paradigm. The developed concept for defining smart device is based on three main features, namely context-awareness, autonomy and device connectivity. Other features such as mobility and userinteraction were highly mentioned in the literature, but were not considered because of the nature of the IoT as a network mainly oriented to device-to-device connectivity whether they are mobile or not and whether they interact with people or not. What emerges from this paper is a concept which can be used to homogenise the terminology used on further research in the Field of digitalisation and smart technologies

OPTIMALISASI PEMBERDAYAAN BIBIT TANAMAN PANGAN SEBAGAI UPAYA MENINGKATKAN KETAHANAN PANGAN MASYARAKAT DESA: (STUDI KASUS NAGORI BIRONG ULU MANRIAH KAB.SIMALUNGUN)

Natural resources in Nagori Birong Ulu Manriah Village are classified as good. One of the best industries to improve people's welfare is agriculture. To improve food security in agriculture, this research aims to maximize the use of home yards for vegetable farming. observation, interviews, and documentation with sources are the methods used in this research. In creating food security in the yards of the residents of Nagori Birong Ulu Manriah Village, Sidamanik District through increasing agricultural food production. Therefore, to combat the conversion of agricultural land and meet the food needs of the community, efforts must be made to increase family income and household food security. This community service project aims to help the residents of Nagori Birong Ulu Manriah Village to learn more about plant cultivation and to inspire them to use their yards to increase the local food supply and income for the residents. It is hoped that the Nagori Birong Ulu Manriah Village Government will continue this program to encourage food security and increase household income for the benefits of the community. Key-words: Optimization, Empowerment, Food Security INTISARI Sumber daya alam di Desa Nagori Birong Ulu Manriah tergolong baik. Salah satu industri terbaik untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan rakyat adalah pertanian. Untuk meningkatkan ketahanan pangan di bidang pertanian, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memaksimalkan penggunaan lahan pekarangan rumah untuk pertanian sayuran. observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi dengan narasumber merupakan suatu metode yang diaplikasikan pada penelitian ini. Dalam menciptakan ketahanan pangan di pekarangan rumah penduduk Desa Nagori Birong Ulu Manriah Kecamatan Sidamanik melalui peningkatan produksi pangan pertanian. Oleh karena itu, untuk memerangi alih fungsi lahan pertanian dan memenuhi kebutuhan pangan masyarakat, harus dilakukan upaya peningkatan pendapatan keluarga dan ketahanan pangan rumah tangga. Proyek pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk membantu warga Desa Nagori Birong Ulu Manriah untuk belajar lebih banyak tentang budidaya tanaman dan menginspirasi mereka untuk menggunakan pekarangan mereka untuk meningkatkan pasokan makanan lokal dan pendapatan penduduk. Genetic variants in novel pathways influence blood pressure and cardiovascular disease risk.

Blood pressure is a heritable trait influenced by several biological pathways and responsive to environmental stimuli. Over one billion people worldwide have hypertension (≥140 mm Hg systolic blood pressure or  ≥90 mm Hg diastolic blood pressure). Even small increments in blood pressure are associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular events. This genome-wide association study of systolic and diastolic blood pressure, which used a multi-stage design in 200,000 individuals of European descent, identified sixteen novel loci: six of these loci contain genes previously known or suspected to regulate blood pressure (GUCY1A3-GUCY1B3, NPR3-C5orf23, ADM, FURIN-FES, GOSR2, GNAS-EDN3); the other ten provide new clues to blood pressure physiology. A genetic risk score based on 29 genome-wide significant variants was associated with hypertension, left ventricular wall thickness, stroke and coronary artery disease, but not kidney disease or kidney function. We also observed associations with blood pressure in East Asian, South Asian and African ancestry individuals. Our findings provide new insights into the genetics and biology of blood pressure, and suggest potential novel therapeutic pathways for cardiovascular disease prevention

Rajawali (Ragam Jejak Warisan Budaya Dan Kearifan Lokal): Pengembangan Desa Wisata Berkelanjutan Berbasis Budaya Dan Produk Lokal Di Desa Sanrobone, Kabupaten Takalar

Pada abad ke-15 M, di Desa Sanrobone, Kabupaten Takalar, terdapat kerajaan dengan nama yang sama. Namun, perubahan sosial dan ekonomi membuat kondisi masyarakat tidak sebaik sebelumnya. Situs-situs penting seperti rumah adat Balla Lompoa, makam leluhur, dan masjid tua usang dimakan waktu. Sektor pertanian dan kelautan menjadi mata pencaharian utama, tetapi juga terdapat pengembangan UMKM. Artikel ini memberikan wawasan dan panduan bagi pengembangan desa wisata budaya di daerah lain dengan potensi budaya dan kearifan lokal yang kaya. Pendekatan pemberdayaan masyarakat menggunakan tujuh dimensi (7D) dan melibatkan survei, pelatihan, pendampingan, monitoring, dan evaluasi. Peneliti berinteraksi dengan Kepala Desa dan aparat desa, serta menggunakan literatur pendukung seperti jurnal, artikel, dan video. Tindakan disesuaikan dengan kebutuhan masyarakat yang diidentifikasi dalam survei, termasuk pelatihan UMKM, publikasi, dan pengelolaan desa wisata. Evaluasi dilakukan untuk menganalisis hasil dan tingkat antusiasme masyarakat. Pengembangan desa wisata budaya di Desa Sanrobone menghasilkan perubahan signifikan. Masyarakat mitra terampil mengelola UMKM, pemuda mahir dalam pengambilan gambar situs budaya, dan kelompok sadar wisata aktif dalam pengelolaan situs budaya serta pembuatan papan informasi. Kesadaran dan pengetahuan masyarakat tentang potensi wisata budaya meningkat, dengan rasa tanggung jawab bersama menjaga situs-situs tersebut
