Transformer-based Joint Modelling for Automatic Essay Scoring and Off-Topic Detection

Automated Essay Scoring (AES) systems are widely popular in the market as they constitute a cost-effective and time-effective option for grading systems. Nevertheless, many studies have demonstrated that the AES system fails to assign lower grades to irrelevant responses. Thus, detecting the off-topic response in automated essay scoring is crucial in practical tasks where candidates write unrelated text responses to the given task in the question. In this paper, we are proposing an unsupervised technique that jointly scores essays and detects off-topic essays. The proposed Automated Open Essay Scoring (AOES) model uses a novel topic regularization module (TRM), which can be attached on top of a transformer model, and is trained using a proposed hybrid loss function. After training, the AOES model is further used to calculate the Mahalanobis distance score for off-topic essay detection. Our proposed method outperforms the baseline we created and earlier conventional methods on two essay-scoring datasets in off-topic detection as well as on-topic scoring. Experimental evaluation results on different adversarial strategies also show how the suggested method is robust for detecting possible human-level perturbations.Comment: Accepted in LREC-COLING 202

Virtual Mouse And Assistant: A Technological Revolution Of Artificial Intelligence

The purpose of this paper is to enhance the performance of the virtual assistant. So, what exactly is a virtual assistant. Application software, often called virtual assistants, also known as AI assistants or digital assistants, is software that understands natural language voice commands and can perform tasks on your behalf. What does a virtual assistant do. Virtual assistants can complete practically any specific smartphone or PC activity that you can complete on your own, and the list is continually expanding. Virtual assistants typically do an impressive variety of tasks, including scheduling meetings, delivering messages, and monitoring the weather. Previous virtual assistants, like Google Assistant and Cortana, had limits in that they could only perform searches and were not entirely automated. For instance, these engines do not have the ability to forward and rewind the song in order to maintain the control function of the song; they can only have the module to search for songs and play them. Currently, we are working on a project where we are automating Google, YouTube, and many other new things to improve the functionality of this project. Now, in order to simplify the process, we've added a virtual mouse that can only be used for cursor control and clicking. It receives input from the camera, and our index finger acts as the mouse tip, our middle finger as the right click, and so forth

The quest for precision medicine hinges on targeted drug delivery, minimizing off-target effects while maximizing therapeutic impact. Among nanocarriers, albumin – the most abundant protein in human blood – emerges as a uniquely biocompatible stealth bomber. Its inherent advantages, including exceptional biodegradability, prolonged circulation, and natural affinity for diseased tissues, perfectly align with the goals of personalized medicine. Albumin readily solubilizes poorly soluble drugs, enhancing bioavailability and broadening the therapeutic arsenal. Its versatile surface allows for targeted modifications, enabling dual diagnosis and treatment (theranostics) tailored to individual needs. While challenges remain in optimizing drug loading and targeting specificity, albumin-based nanocarriers hold immense promise for revolutionizing personalized healthcare, delivering potent therapeutics with pinpoint accuracy. The burgeoning field of nanodrug delivery seeks to redefine therapeutic landscapes by engineering nanoscale carriers that meticulously deliver potent drugs to their designated targets, minimizing systemic exposure and maximizing therapeutic efficacy. This pursuit aligns perfectly with the burgeoning field of precision medicine, where personalized treatments demand exquisite control over drug delivery. Within this intricate choreography, albumin, the abundant and versatile protein resident in human plasma, emerges as a maestro, orchestrating a symphony of advantages that make it a prime candidate for nanocarrier construction

BACKGROUND: Identification of genes underlying drought tolerance (DT) quantitative trait loci (QTLs) will facilitate understanding of molecular mechanisms of drought tolerance, and also will accelerate genetic improvement of pearl millet through marker-assisted selection. We report a map based on genes with assigned functional roles in plant adaptation to drought and other abiotic stresses and demonstrate its use in identifying candidate genes underlying a major DT-QTL. RESULTS: Seventy five single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) and conserved intron spanning primer (CISP) markers were developed from available expressed sequence tags (ESTs) using four genotypes, H 77/833-2, PRLT 2/89-33, ICMR 01029 and ICMR 01004, representing parents of two mapping populations. A total of 228 SNPs were obtained from 30.5 kb sequenced region resulting in a SNP frequency of 1/134 bp. The positions of major pearl millet linkage group (LG) 2 DT-QTLs (reported from crosses H 77/833-2 × PRLT 2/89-33 and 841B × 863B) were added to the present consensus function map which identified 18 genes, coding for PSI reaction center subunit III, PHYC, actin, alanine glyoxylate aminotransferase, uridylate kinase, acyl-CoA oxidase, dipeptidyl peptidase IV, MADS-box, serine/threonine protein kinase, ubiquitin conjugating enzyme, zinc finger C- × 8-C × 5-C × 3-H type, Hd3, acetyl CoA carboxylase, chlorophyll a/b binding protein, photolyase, protein phosphatase1 regulatory subunit SDS22 and two hypothetical proteins, co-mapping in this DT-QTL interval. Many of these candidate genes were found to have significant association with QTLs of grain yield, flowering time and leaf rolling under drought stress conditions. CONCLUSIONS: We have exploited available pearl millet EST sequences to generate a mapped resource of seventy five new gene-based markers for pearl millet and demonstrated its use in identifying candidate genes underlying a major DT-QTL in this species. The reported gene-based markers represent an important resource for identification of candidate genes for other mapped abiotic stress QTLs in pearl millet. They also provide a resource for initiating association studies using candidate genes and also for comparing the structure and function of distantly related plant genomes such as other Poaceae members

In today's digital age, data storage has become an increasingly important issue. The exponential growth of data has led to the need for secure and private storage solutions. Unfortunately, without a standardized protocol, the security and privacy of sensitive data can be a challenge. However, blockchain technology has emerged as a promising solution for secure data storage. Blockchain's decentralized and immutable nature provides a comprehensive solution for the security and privacy of all types of data. In this research, we propose an innovative framework that leverages the benefits of blockchain technology to securely handle and store data in a serverless environment of distributed nodes. To ensure the highest level of security, we evaluated four encryption algorithms - Blowfish, RC4, DES, and AES - for storing data in a permissioned blockchain network. We found that AES encryption and decryption algorithms provide the best solution for creating a decentralized, immutable coordinate system. Our proposed framework is based on a permissioned blockchain network that enables multiple users to join the network through suitable identity verification processes, and each user is assigned certain special and designated permissions to perform actions. This framework provides a secure and efficient solution for the storage of all types of data, ensuring privacy and security. Our proposed framework offers an innovative solution for secure data storage and management in a decentralized environment. This research has practical implications for organizations that need to store sensitive data securely, and it also contributes to the ongoing development of blockchain technology
