Image Type Water Meter Character Recognition Based on Embedded DSP
In the paper, we combined DSP processor with image processing algorithm and
studied the method of water meter character recognition. We collected water
meter image through camera at a fixed angle, and the projection method is used
to recognize those digital images. The experiment results show that the method
can recognize the meter characters accurately and artificial meter reading is
replaced by automatic digital recognition, which improves working efficiency
Machine Learning Inspired Energy-Efficient Hybrid Precoding for MmWave Massive MIMO Systems
Hybrid precoding is a promising technique for mmWave massive MIMO systems, as
it can considerably reduce the number of required radio-frequency (RF) chains
without obvious performance loss. However, most of the existing hybrid
precoding schemes require a complicated phase shifter network, which still
involves high energy consumption. In this paper, we propose an energy-efficient
hybrid precoding architecture, where the analog part is realized by a small
number of switches and inverters instead of a large number of high-resolution
phase shifters. Our analysis proves that the performance gap between the
proposed hybrid precoding architecture and the traditional one is small and
keeps constant when the number of antennas goes to infinity. Then, inspired by
the cross-entropy (CE) optimization developed in machine learning, we propose
an adaptive CE (ACE)-based hybrid precoding scheme for this new architecture.
It aims to adaptively update the probability distributions of the elements in
hybrid precoder by minimizing the CE, which can generate a solution close to
the optimal one with a sufficiently high probability. Simulation results verify
that our scheme can achieve the near-optimal sum-rate performance and much
higher energy efficiency than traditional schemes.Comment: This paper has been accepted by IEEE ICC 2017. The simulation codes

The canonical correlation analysis between the fitness of organizational condition and integration possibility: The evidence of configurational approach
In past literature, most studies discussed organizational fit from a single perspective instead of examining the positive and negative effects of high and low organizational fit through a comprehensive and concrete narrative and integrated concept. Furthermore, most studies attempted to explain "how to make integration work", while omitting "why integration is not easily achieved", often resulting in post-mergers and acquisitions (M&A) failure. This study surveyed top managers working for publicly-traded Taiwanese companies which had processed M&A in the past five years. We randomly chose qualifying companies by using secondary data, and then mailed 300 questionnaires to top managers of the respective firms who were directly or indirectly involved in the M&A. The results of this study indicate the possibility of integration project after M&A has been proven. It signifies high organizational fit companies are more likely to implement organizational management than companies with low organizational fit. Second, the relationship between the organizational fit and the integration possibility of organizational management shows a positive correlation. Specifically, the symmetry of power contains a high correlation with four variables of organizational management
Experimental Studies of Low-field Landau Quantization in Two-dimensional Electron Systems in GaAs/AlGaAs Heterostructures
By applying a magnetic field perpendicular to GaAs/AlGaAs two-dimensional
electron systems, we study the low-field Landau quantization when the thermal
damping is reduced with decreasing the temperature. Magneto-oscillations
following Shubnikov-de Haas (SdH) formula are observed even when their
amplitudes are so large that the deviation to such a formula is expected. Our
experimental results show the importance of the positive magneto-resistance to
the extension of SdH formula under the damping induced by the disorder.Comment: 9 pages, 3 figure
Incidence of diarrhea caused by rotavirus infections in rural Zhengding, China: prospective, population-based surveillance.
Rotavirus is the pathogen most commonly associated with severe gastroenteritis in young children in the People's Republic of China, yet there are few population-based data on the incidence of rotavirus infection. The present study investigated the burden of rotavirus diarrhea and rotavirus infections in rural China, according to age. Population-based surveillance was used to study the incidence of rotavirus infection among children <5 years of age in 4 townships of Zhengding County, Hebei Province, China. The total population in the catchment area in 2002 was 75,630 individuals, including 2997 children aged <5 years. Stool samples were obtained and were tested for rotavirus antigen by use of an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. During 2002, a total of 2010 cases of diarrhea were detected among children <5 years of age. The incidence of treated cases of diarrhea was 671 cases/1000 children/year for children <5 years of age, and it was highest for children <12 months of age (1467 cases/1000 children/year). The estimated incidence of rotavirus infection was 151 cases/1000 children/year for children <5 years of age. The highest incidence of rotavirus infection was among children aged 1-2 years (340 cases/1000 children/year). Widespread immunization of children against rotavirus before 6 months of age should be considered for the control of rotavirus diarrhea
