Background/Aim: Vascular endothelial growth inhibitor (VEGI) is a multipotential cytokine that plays a role in regulating immunity, anti-angiogenesis, and inhibiting tumor growth. However, the proteins that interact with it are still unknown. In the present study, we examined the proteins which interact with VEGI174 and their expressions in renal cell carcinoma (RCC). Materials and Methods: The proteins that interact with VEGI174 were identified using western blot, pull-down assay, and mass spectrometry. The expressions of VEGI174 and the interacting proteins were examined in RCC and were compared with normal renal tissues using immunochemical staining and RNA-seq respectively. Results: The results of the mass spectrometric analysis showed that ACLY, ENO1, ZIK1, AKR1C3, and MYC may interact with VEGI174. When compared with the TCGA database, the expression level of VEGI174 in RCC was lower than that in normal kidney using RNAseq (p<0.001). The expression levels of ACLY, ENO1, ZIK1, AKR1C3 and MYC in RCC were higher than that in normal kidney (p<0.05, all of above factors). Moreover, immunochemical staining results also showed that the expression level of AKR1C3 in RCC was significantly higher than that in normal kidney (p<0.001) and was also positively correlated with higher RCC stage and grade. Conclusion: Taken together, our findings showed that VEGI174 may interact with ACLY, ENO1, ZIK1, AKR1C3, and MYC. The expression of ACLY, ENO1, AKR1C3 and MYC is increased in RCC. AKR1C3 was a new factor that may correlate with the progression of RCC. The results indicated that VEGI174 has more functions than we currently know in the development and progression of RC

Cases of mixed total anomalous pulmonary venous connection were rare, while cases of the vertical vein drained to jugular vein were even rarer. Pay attention to the size of pulmonary vein and left atrial anastomosis, increase the left atrium volume with pericardial patch, which play an important role to prevent postoperative pulmonary edema caused by anastomosis stenosis, poor back flow of coronary sinus and smaller left atrial volume.

Investigation on Microstructure and Optical Property of Nanocrystalline Silicon Thin Film

Nanocrystalline silicon (nc-Si:H) thin films were deposited by capacitive coupled radio-frequency plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (RF-PECVD) system with direct current (DC) bias applied. Raman, XRD and ultraviolet-visible transmission spectra were employed to investigate their microstructure and optical properties, respectively. Both the crystalline volume fraction and the average crystalline size increase with the substrate temperature. With the increase of silane concentration, the crystalline volume fraction increases, while the average crystalline size decreases. With the increase of the radio frequency (RF) power or the DC negative bias voltage, the crystalline volume fraction and the average crystalline size increase firstly, then decreases. Finally, the optical band gaps were discussed in detail

Root system morphology (RSM) in plants plays a key role in acquiring nutrients from the soil and is also altered by abiotic or biotic factors including soil microorganisms and signal molecules. The present study was made to evaluate the effects of an arbuscular mycorrhizal fungus (AMF, Glomus versiforme) and exogenous peroxide hydrogen (H2O2, 0, 1 and 100 μM) on root length, lateral root number and activities of polyamine-metabolized enzymes in trifoliate orange (Poncirus trifoliata) seedlings. After 5 months of inoculation with AMF, root mycorrhizal colonization was significantly increased by application of 1 μM H2O2, but markedly restrained by 100 μM H2O2. Inoculation with AMF significantly increased the taproot length and the number of second- and third-order lateral roots under 1 and 100 μM H2O2application. The AMF infection significantly increased 0-1 cm classed root length and total root length, regardless of H2O2 concentration. In general, inoculation with AMF increased arginine decarboxylase (ADC) and ornithine decarboxylase (ODC) activity of roots under 0, 1 and 100 μM H2O2, increased diamine oxidase (DAO) activity of roots under 0 μM H2O2 and decreased DAO activity of roots under 1 and 100 μM H2O2. Root polyamine oxidase (PAO) activity was similar between AMF and non-AMF seedlings, irrespectively of H2O2concentration. Results suggest that lower concentration of H2O2(1 μM) might be regarded as a signal to stimulate mycorrhizal and lateral root development through increase of ADC and ODC and decrease of DAO, while high concentration of 2O2 (100 μM) as a toxic compound of reactive oxygen species restricted AMF colonization

The CDEX-1 1 kg Point-Contact Germanium Detector for Low Mass Dark Matter Searches

The CDEX Collaboration has been established for direct detection of light dark matter particles, using ultra-low energy threshold p-type point-contact germanium detectors, in China JinPing underground Laboratory (CJPL). The first 1 kg point-contact germanium detector with a sub-keV energy threshold has been tested in a passive shielding system located in CJPL. The outputs from both the point-contact p+ electrode and the outside n+ electrode make it possible to scan the lower energy range of less than 1 keV and at the same time to detect the higher energy range up to 3 MeV. The outputs from both p+ and n+ electrode may also provide a more powerful method for signal discrimination for dark matter experiment. Some key parameters, including energy resolution, dead time, decay times of internal X-rays, and system stability, have been tested and measured. The results show that the 1 kg point-contact germanium detector, together with its shielding system and electronics, can run smoothly with good performances. This detector system will be deployed for dark matter search experiments.Comment: 6 pages, 8 figure

In the title compound, {[Ag(C14H10N4O)2]AsF6}n, the AgI ion is coordinated by two N atoms from two different pyridyl rings and one N atom from one carbonitrile group of three different N′-(4-cyanobenzylidene)nicotinohydrazide ligands in a distorted T-shaped geometry. The Ag—Ncarbonitrile bond distance is significant longer than those of Ag—Npyridyl. The bond angles around the AgI atom are also not in line with those in an ideal T-shaped geometry. One type of ligand acts as the bridge that connects AgI atoms into chains along [01]. These chains are linked to each other via N—H⋯O hydrogen bonds and Ag⋯O interactions with an Ag⋯O separation of 2.869 (2) Å. In addition, the [AsF6]− counter-anions are linked to the hydrazone groups through N—H⋯F hydrogen bonds. Four of the F atoms of the [AsF6]− anion are disordered over two sets of sites with occupancies of 0.732 (9) and 0.268 (9)
