Charge-impurity-induced Majorana fermions in topological superconductors
We study numerically Majorana fermions (MFs) induced by a charged impurity in
topological superconductors. It is revealed from the relevant Bogoliubov-de
Gennes equations that (i) for quasi-one dimensional systems, a pair of MFs are
bounded at the two sides of one charge impurity and well separated; and (ii)
for a two dimensional square lattice, the charged-impurity-induced MFs are
similar to the known pair of vortex-induced MFs, in which one MF is bounded by
the impurity while the other appears at the boundary. Moreover, the
corresponding local density of states is explored, demonstrating that the
presence of MF states may be tested experimentally.Comment: 5 pages, 5 figure
Method of determining cosmological parameter ranges with samples of candles with an intrinsic distribution
In this paper, the effect of the intrinsic distribution of cosmological
candles is investigated. We find that, in the case of a narrow distribution,
the deviation of the observed modulus of sources from the expected central
value could be estimated within a ceratin range. We thus introduce a lower and
upper limits of , and , to
estimate cosmological parameters by applying the conventional minimizing method. We apply this method to a gamma-ray burst (GRB) sample as well as
to a combined sample including this GRB sample and an SN Ia sample. Our
analysis shows that: a) in the case of assuming an intrinsic distribution of
candles of the GRB sample, the effect of the distribution is obvious and should
not be neglected; b) taking into account this effect would lead to a poorer
constraint of the cosmological parameter ranges. The analysis suggests that in
the attempt of constraining the cosmological model with current GRB samples,
the results tend to be worse than what previously thought if the mentioned

Quantum Dense Coding Exploiting Bright EPR Beam
Highly efficient quantum dense coding for continuous variables has been
experimentally accomplished by means of exploiting bright EPR beam with
anticorrelation of amplitude quadratures and correlation of phase quadratures,
which is generated from a nondegenerate optical parametric amplifier operating
in the state of deamplification. Two bits of classical information are encoded
on two quadratures of a half of bright EPR beam at the sender Alice and
transmitted to the receiver Bob via one qubit of the shared quantum state after
encoding. The amplitude and phase signals are simultaneously decoded with the
other half of EPR beam by the direct measurement of the Bell-state at Bob. The
signal to noise ratios of the simultaneously measured amplitude and phase
signals are improved 5.4dB and 4.8dB with respect to that of the shot noise
limit respectively. A high degree of immunity to unauthorized eavesdropping of
the presented quantum communication scheme is experimentally demonstrated.Comment: 11 pages, 5 figure
Dynamical Axion Field in Topological Magnetic Insulators
Axions are very light, very weakly interacting particles postulated more than
30 years ago in the context of the Standard Model of particle physics. Their
existence could explain the missing dark matter of the universe. However,
despite intensive searches, they have yet to be detected. In this work, we show
that magnetic fluctuations of topological insulators couple to the
electromagnetic fields exactly like the axions, and propose several experiments
to detect this dynamical axion field. In particular, we show that the axion
coupling enables a nonlinear modulation of the electromagnetic field, leading
to attenuated total reflection. We propose a novel optical modulators device

Fermions tunnelling from the charged dilatonic black holes
Kerner and Mann's recent work shows that, for an uncharged and non-rotating
black hole, its Hawking temperature can be exactly derived by fermions
tunnelling from its horizons. In this paper, our main work is to improve the
analysis to deal with charged fermion tunnelling from the general dilatonic
black holes, specifically including the charged, spherically symmetric
dilatonic black hole, the rotating Einstein-Maxwell-Dilaton-Axion (EMDA) black
hole and the rotating Kaluza-Klein (KK) black hole. As a result, the correct
Hawking temperatures are well recovered by charged fermions tunnelling from

Improving corporate governance in state-owned corporations in China: which way forward?
This article discusses corporate governance in China. It outlines the basic agency problem in Chinese listed companies and questions the effectiveness of the current mechanisms employed to improve their standards of governance. Importantly, it considers alternative means through which corporate practice in China can be brought into line with international expectations and stresses the urgency with which this task must be tackled. It concludes that regulators in China must construct a corporate governance model which is compatible with its domestic setting and not rush to adopt governance initiatives modelled on those in cultures which are fundamentally different in the hope of also reproducing their success
Spontaneous CP Violating Phase as The CKM Matrix Phase
We propose that the CP violating phase in the CKM mixing matrix is identical
to the CP phases responsible for the spontaneous CP violation in the Higgs
potential. A specific multi-Higgs model with Peccei-Quinn (PQ) symmetry is
constructed to realize this idea. The CP violating phase does not vanish when
all Higgs masses become large. There are flavor changing neutral current (FCNC)
interactions mediated by neutral Higgs bosons at the tree level. However,
unlike general multi-Higgs models, the FCNC Yukawa couplings are fixed in terms
of the quark masses and CKM mixing angles. Implications for meson-anti-meson
mixing, including recent data on mixing, and neutron electric dipole
moment (EDM) are studied. We find that the neutral Higgs boson masses can be at
the order of one hundred GeV. The neutron EDM can be close to the present

Radiation Campaign of HPK Prototype LGAD sensors for the High-Granularity Timing Detector (HGTD)
We report on the results of a radiation campaign with neutrons and protons of
Low Gain Avalanche Detectors (LGAD) produced by Hamamatsu (HPK) as prototypes
for the High-Granularity Timing Detector (HGTD) in ATLAS. Sensors with an
active thickness of 50~m were irradiated in steps of roughly 2 up
to a fluence of . As a function of the
fluence, the collected charge and time resolution of the irradiated sensors

First Observation of the Decays chi_{cJ} -> pi^0 pi^0 pi^0 pi^0
We present a study of the P-wave spin -triplet charmonium chi_{cJ} decays
(J=0,1,2) into pi^0 pi^0 pi^0 pi^0. The analysis is based on 106 million
\psiprime decays recorded with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII electron
positron collider. The decay into the pi^0 pi^0 pi^0 pi^0 hadronic final state
is observed for the first time. We measure the branching fractions B(chi_{c0}
-> pi^0 pi^0 pi^0 pi^0)=(3.34 +- 0.06 +- 0.44)*10^{-3}, B(chi_{c1} -> pi^0 pi^0
pi^0 pi^0)=(0.57 +- 0.03 +- 0.08)*10^{-3}, and B(chi_{c2} -> pi^0 pi^0 pi^0
pi^0)=(1.21 +- 0.05 +- 0.16)*10^{-3}, where the uncertainties are statistical

\psip events accumulated at the BESIII detector at the BEPCII
collider. The branching fractions are measured to be , , and , for , , and ,
respectively. The observation of decays into a pair of vector
mesons , and indicates that the hadron
helicity selection rule is significantly violated in decays. In
addition, the measurement of gives the rate of doubly
OZI-suppressed decay. Branching fractions for and
