Static magnetic susceptibility, crystal field and exchange interactions in rare earth titanate pyrochlores
The experimental temperature dependence (T = 2–300 K) of single crystal bulk and site susceptibilities of rare earth titanate pyrochlores R2Ti2O7 (R = Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Yb) is analyzed in the framework of crystal field theory and a mean field approximation. Analytical expressions for the site and bulk susceptibilities of the pyrochlore lattice are derived taking into account long range dipole–dipole interactions and anisotropic exchange interactions between the nearest neighbor rare earth ions. The sets of crystal field parameters and anisotropic exchange coupling constants have been determined and their variations along the lanthanide series are discussed.
A methodological approach to developing the model of correlation between economic development and environmental efficiency on the basis of company's non-financial reports
Having reviewed the most widely used international non-financial reporting standards, GRI was identified as the optimal standard for the Russian context. The environmental component of the GRI G4 guidelines and the contribution of each aspect to the overall sustainability picture were analysed. Over time, the value of biological resources increases, and therefore, a company’s economic development cannot continue in isolation. To determine the degree of harmony between economic development and ecological condition of the territories involved, new approaches and methods are required. Based on statistical methods, a model of correlation between economic development and environmental efficiency was developed that uses non-financial reporting data. The model can be used by oil and gas companies, and its general principles — by other industries. The results may interest stakeholders and serve as a platform for forecasting and making administrative decisions aimed at achieving harmony between economic development and environmental efficiency. The model was tested on the largest oil and gas Russian company “Surgutneftegaz” data. A positive correlation was shown between the two systems of its sustainable development: economy and ecology. The results obtained demonstrate the company’s strong commitment to conservation. Further research may yield more profound results, contributing to broader sustainable development
Hikester - the event management application
Today social networks and services are one of the most important part of our
everyday life. Most of the daily activities, such as communicating with
friends, reading news or dating is usually done using social networks. However,
there are activities for which social networks do not yet provide adequate
support. This paper focuses on event management and introduces "Hikester". The
main objective of this service is to provide users with the possibility to
create any event they desire and to invite other users. "Hikester" supports the
creation and management of events like attendance of football matches, quest
rooms, shared train rides or visit of museums in foreign countries. Here we
discuss the project architecture as well as the detailed implementation of the
system components: the recommender system, the spam recognition service and the
parameters optimizer
An Eccentric Eclipsing Binary: CGAur
In this study, we present CG Aur's photometric observations obtained in the
observing seasons 2011 and 2012, the first available multi-colour light curves.
Their shape indicates that the system is an Algol binary. The light curve
analyses reveal that CG Aur is a detached binary system with an effective
temperature difference between the components, approximately 1000 K. The first
estimate of the absolute dimensions of the components indicated that the system
locates on the main sequence in the HR diagram. The primary component is
slightly evolved from the ZAMS.Comment: 18 pages, 6 figures, 3 table
Features of Heart Rate Variability and Early Postinfarction Remodeling Process in Patients with Recurrent Myocardial Infarction
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the heart rate variability (HRV) level and the features of early post-infarction left ventricular remodeling (PIR) in patients with recurrent myocardial infarction (MI), which developed within six months post the initial Q-wave MI (Q-MI). Material and Methods: The study surveyed 105 male patients between 29 and 69 years of age (mean age 52.08±8.5), who underwent a Q-MI and who, for various reasons, have not undergone coronary angiography. All patients underwent echocardiography and the LVM, EDV, ESV and their indexed values, as well as the ejection fraction were determined, including Holter ECG monitoring. In the interim, analysis included the indicators recommended by the standards of measurement, physiological interpretation and clinical use of heart rate variability, such as SDNN, SDANN and RMSSD. The reduction of the total reduction of HRV was taken as SDNN≤100ms, and the marked reduction in HRV - SDNN≤50ms. Results: All the patients were divided into two groups: Group I consisted of patients who, within six months after the initial Q-wave MI, developed fatal or nonfatal reinfarction; Group II included those patients with a favorable course of the disease. The patients in both groups belonged to a somewhat similar age category. By localization of MI, occurrence of AH, as well as the incidence of LV aneurysm, both groups were comparable. However, the Group I patients in acute Q-MI showed significantly more preserved signs of residual myocardial ischemia, which was manifested as early post-infarction angina. The average values of SDNN in patients in Group I were noted to be significantly lower than that in the Group II patients. The same ratio was observed in both groups and also the indicator of SDANN, whereas the mean RMSSD values of the patients of both groups were not significantly different. The percentage of patients with reduced HRV in Group I was 1.8 times higher than that in Group II, including those patients with a marked reduction in HRV, which were 25% and 5.1% in Groups I and II, respectively. The patients in Group I compared with Group II patients had significantly higher values for LVM, EDV, ESV, as well as their indexed values for LVMI, iEDV, and iESV. The average values of EF in Group I were significantly lower than those in Group II. Conclusion: In patients with recurrent MI, which had developed within six months from the time of the initial Q-infarction in the acute phase of the disease, significantly more preserved signs of residual ischemia were revealed. The average EF, SDNN and SDANN values in these patients were significantly lower than in patients having a favorable course of the disease. Patients with recurrent MI differed significantly by showing higher values of the left ventricular mass, left ventricular volume indices, as well as the indexed values determined during the 10-14 day period of the primary IM
Optical spectra, crystal-field parameters, and magnetic susceptibility of the new multiferroic NdFe3(BO3)4
We report high-resolution optical absorption spectra for NdFe3(BO3)4 trigonal
single crystal which is known to exhibit a giant magnetoelectric effect below
the temperature of magnetic ordering TN = 33 K. The analysis of the
temperature-dependent polarized spectra reveals the energies and, in some
cases, symmetries and exchange splittings of Nd3+ 84 Kramers doublets. We
perform crystal-field calculations starting from the exchange-charge model,
obtain a set of six real crystal-field parameters, and calculate wave functions
and magnetic g-factors. In particular, the values g(perpendicular) = 2.385,
g(parallel) = 1.376 were found for the Nd3+ ground-state doublet. We obtain
Bloc=7.88 T and |JFN|= 0.48 K for the values of the local effective magnetic
field at liquid helium temperatures at the Nd3+ site and the Nd - Fe exchange
integral, respectively, using the experimentally measured Nd3+ ground-state
splitting of 8.8 cm-1. To check reliability of our set of crystal field
parameters we model the magnetic susceptibility data from literature. A dimer
containing two nearest-neighbor iron ions in the spiral chain is considered to
partly account for quasi-one-dimensional properties of iron borates, and then
the mean-field approximation is used. The results of calculations with the
exchange parameters for Fe3+ ions Jnn = -6.25 K (intra-chain interactions) and
Jnnn = -1.92 K (inter-chain interactions) obtained from fitting agree well with
the experimental data.Comment: 13 pages, 8 figures, 2 table
