Compromise Solutions Based on Bankruptcy
In this paper we introduce a new family of compromise solutions for the class of compromise admissible games.These solutions extend bankruptcy rules.In particular, we show that the compromise extension of the run-to-the-bank rule coincides with the barycentre of the core cover and characterise this rule by consistency.We also provide a characterisation of the TAL-family of rules.bankruptcy;games
Benchmarking for RTN, a real-time variation on IEEE802.11
RTN is a network access protocol that uses a token scheduling mechanism to enable real-time multimedia streaming on Ethernet-like networks. Unlike other token based protocols, RTNs token mechanism is based on pre-emptive earliest deadline first (PEDF) scheduling. PEDF has interesting characteristics, such as one hundred percent bandwidth utilization and a uncomplicated feasibility analysis. RTN is simulated and implemented on Ethernet and IEEE802.11. The latter implementation is not straightforward, because some for RTN important details are not defined in the standard. As a consequence the standard had to be evaluated before adaptation and implementation of RTN could start. This paper briefly describes the RTN protocol. The focus, however, is on benchmarking the IEEE802.11 standard
Design and construction of a novel Coriolis mass flow rate meter
The Coriolis principle for measuring flow rates has great advantages compared to other flow measurement principles, the most important being that mass flow is measured directly. Up to now the measurement of low flow rates posed a great challenge. In a joint research project, the University of Twente and mechatronics company DEMCON worked on the mechatronic design and construction of a novel Coriolis mass flow meter for low flow rates. Innovations included shape and fixation of the meter tube, contactless (pure torque) actuation of the tube oscillation and contactless sensing of Coriolis force-induced displacements. As a result, the accuracy of the mini Coriolis is ten times better than that of existing, commercially available Coriolis mass flow rate meters. A real-time multimedia streaming protocol for wireless networks
This paper describes a new token-based medium access protocol for real-time networks and its implementation on a wireless network. Originally, the protocol is developed for use in low cost domestic or home networks that are based on Ethernet hardware. In contrast to existing protocols the token is assigned to network nodes on basis of a pre-emptive earliest deadline first (PEDF) schedule of the multimedia streams. The scheduler is distributed over all active nodes in the network. Although other schedulers could be used, PEDF is chosen because it has a theoretical bandwidth utilization of one hundred percent and feasibility analysis is very simple, so even simple devices can participate in such a network. This is confirmed by simulation experiments and a prototype based on Ethernet hardware. The protocol is successfully adapted to and implemented on an IEEE 802.11b wireless LAN, even though this type of network has some unpredictable properties, such as bandwidth switching
Optical measurement of a micro coriolis mass flow sensor
Haneveld [1,2] demonstrated a micro Coriolis mass flow sensor, operating in the\ud
measurement range of 0 to 1 g/hr achieving a resolution in the order of 10 mg/hr\ud
using a laser vibrometer. Equipped with an integrated capacitive [3] readout the\ud
measurement uncertainty amounted to 2% of the full scale range. We demonstrate a\ud
down-scalable and low-cost optical sensor system that measures the movement of the micro Coriolis mass flow tube with a high resolution. The noise level is measured to be 6 mg/hr at a 3s confidence interval
Acoustic characterization of Hofstadter butterfly with resonant scatterers
We are interested in the experimental characterization of the Hofstadter
butterfly by means of acoustical waves. The transmission of an acoustic pulse
through an array of 60 variable and resonant scatterers periodically distribued
along a waveguide is studied. An arbitrary scattering arrangement is realized
by using the variable length of each resonator cavity. For a periodic
modulation, the structures of forbidden bands of the transmission reproduce the
Hofstadter butterfly. We compare experimental, analytical, and computational
realizations of the Hofstadter butterfly and we show the influence of the
resonances of the scatterers on the structure of the butterfly
MEMS-based Micro Coriolis mass flow sensor
