Protein fold recognition using genetic algorithm optimized voting scheme and profile bigram

Get PDF
In biology, identifying the tertiary structure of a protein helps determine its functions. A step towards tertiary structure identification is predicting a protein’s fold. Computational methods have been applied to determine a protein’s fold by assembling information from its structural, physicochemical and/or evolutionary properties. It has been shown that evolutionary information helps improve prediction accuracy. In this study, a scheme is proposed that uses the genetic algorithm (GA) to optimize a weighted voting scheme to improve protein fold recognition. This scheme incorporates k-separated bigram transition probabilities for feature extraction, which are based on the Position Specific Scoring Matrix (PSSM). A set of SVM classifiers are used for initial classification, whereupon their predictions are consolidated using the optimized weighted voting scheme. This scheme has been demonstrated on the Ding and Dubchak (DD), Extended Ding and Dubchak (EDD) and Taguchi and Gromhia (TG) datasets benchmarked data sets

Enhancement of Field Emission Properties of Carbon Nanotubes by ECR-Plasma Treatment

Get PDF
We report a significant improvement in electron field emission property of carbon nanotubes film by using an electron cyclotron resonance plasma treatment. Our research results reveal that plasma treatment can modify the surface morphology and enhance the field emission characteristics of carbon nanotubes. Raman spectra indicate that plasma treated CNTs sample has lesser defects. Before plasma treatment, low current density of 6.5 mA/cm2 at 3.0 V/μm and at a high turn-on field Eto of 2.4 V/μm was observed. ECR plasma treated CNTs showed a high current density of 20.0 mA/cm2 at 3.0 V/μm and at a low Eto of 1.6 V/μm. The calculated enhancement factors are 694 and 8721 for ECR-plasma untreated and treated carbon nanotubes, respectively. We found an increase in the enhancement factor and emission current after the ECR-plasma treatment. This may be attributed to creation of geometrical features through the removal of amorphous carbon and catalyst particles.</jats:p

Analysis of variance components for quantitative traits in muskmelon (Cucumis melo L.)

No full text
An experiment with different contributing charactersof 26 genotypes of muskmelon (Cucumis meloL.) was performed in a randomized block design with three replications during the Zaid season (Feb-May) of 2019, at Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi in order to understand the genetics of yield formation characteristics with yield enhancement potentials. Analysis of varian cerevealed the presence of significant differences among all genotypes for almost all the characters indicating that there is a plenty of room to improve the population for these traits. The range of variation was documented widest for the characters viz.; fruit weight (179.7 to 777.1 g), yield of fruit per plant (360.3 to 3109.5 g), pulp weight (107.0 to 557.2 g), and seeds per fruit (183.6 to 477.3). Genotypic coefficients of variation values were lower than phenotypic coefficients of variation for all characters. The fruit yield per plant revealed the highest phenotypic and genotypic coefficients of variation values followed by titratable acidity, pulp weight, total number of female flowers and seed weight. Also, fruit yield per plant, total number of female flowers, node to first female flower, total number of fruits, fruit weight, and total soluble solids had high estimates of heritability and high genetic advance as per cent of mean, suggesting that selection for these traits might be effective.</jats:p

A Study on Financial Performance of MRF Company

This study analyses the performance & evaluation of MRF company. Liquidity and profitability ratios are the most relevant factors to determine the investment decision for the shareholders. The present study based on secondary data & the data were collected from Annual reports of the company. The present study has covered the data for five years from 2015-16 to 2019-20. This study carries out performance evaluation of the tyre company by analysing various ratios like profitability, liquidity & solvency ratios. From the research it was concluded that Return on capital employed had gradually decrease every year from 2016 to 2020 where as net profit ratio had fluctuated every year. From the analysis it was found out that solvency ratio decreased every year Liquidity position of the company remain same throughout the selected time period.
