Appraisal of the Role of Gaseous Signaling Molecules in Thermo-Tolerance Mechanisms in Plants

: A significant threat to the ongoing rise in temperature caused by global warming. Plants have many stress-resistance mechanisms, which is responsible for maintaining plant homeostasis. Abiotic stresses largely increase gaseous molecules' synthesis in plants. The study of gaseous signaling molecules has gained attention in recent years. The role of gaseous molecules, such as nitric oxide (NO), hydrogen sulfide (H2S), carbon dioxide (CO2), carbon monoxide (CO), methane (CH4), and ethylene, in plants under temperature high-temperature stress are discussed in the current review. Recent studies revealed the critical function that gaseous molecules play in controlling plant growth and development and their ability to respond to various abiotic stresses. Here, we provide a thorough overview of current advancements that prevent heat stress-related plant damage via gaseous molecules. We also explored and discussed the interaction of gaseous molecules. In addition, we provided an overview of the role played by gaseous molecules in high-temperature stress responses, along with a discussion of the knowledge gaps and how this may affect the development of high-temperature-resistant plant species

GOODS AND SERVICES TAX: A STUDY ON ROAD MAP FOR 2017

The paper covers the scope of GST and the history of the taxation system in India.&#x0D; The word tax is derived from the Latin word ‘taxare’ meaning, to estimate. “A tax is not a voluntary payment or donation, but an enforced contribution, exacted pursuant to legislative authority" and is any contribution imposed by government whether under the name of toll, tribute, impost, duty, custom, excise, subsidy, aid, supply, or other name.” Taxes in India are levied by the Central Government and the State Governments. Some minor taxes are also levied by the local authorities such as Municipality or Local Council. The paper consists of the demerits of existing taxation system, challenges and opportunities of the GST and the latest amendments with the road map for 2017. With the help of this paper we get the overview of the current amendments and the future efforts to be made in the implementation of GST.</jats:p

Growing Beyond Survival: Resilience, Hope and Meaning in Life

Resilience in the ability to bounce back in the face of adversity. Some people become overwhelmed by life`s challenges and tragedies, while some others seem to maintain their bearings in the face of adversity. Research has indicated that resilient people generally use effective coping strategies, have a firm understanding of reality, a deep and meaningful belief system, the ability to improvise and have a strong belief in the future. Hope includes the ability to motivate oneself and persist in the face of difficult situation while Meaning in life helps in positive coping and adaptation. The purpose of the present investigation is to study the relation between meaning in life, hope and resilience. A sample of 60 subjects (30 males and 30 females), the age range of 18-30 years were administered the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC), Adult Hope scale (Snyder) and Meaning in life Questionnaire (Steger, 2006). Suitable statistical technique to be used to study the relationship between the three variables.</jats:p

Use of Mnemonics for Teaching Mathematics at the Primary Level

A good understanding of mathematics is necessary not only for academics; rather it is also a fundamental skill which is required in a person’s personal, social, and work life. Mathematics today owes a huge debt to the outstanding contributions made by Indian mathematicians over many hundreds of years. However, nowadays Indian students underperform in mathematics. As per the Seventh Annual Survey of Education Report (ASER), 2012, of rural India, school enrolment has risen but there is a decline in attendance, over-reliance on private tuitions and decline in reading and mathematical ability of children in the age group between six and 14. In order to improve performance in mathematics and ensure that our students are equipped with the mathematical skills needed to succeed in a global marketplace, there is a need to start from the basics at primary level. The major reason for the difficulty in comprehending mathematical concepts is their abstract nature, inability to translate mathematical meaning to real -world entities and lack of multi-step problem solving skill. Thus, use of innovative techniques which make the mathematical concepts concrete and help in memorizing the basics along with inculcation of basic mathematical concepts and skills could be useful in improving the mathematical ability. The present paper considers some mnemonic techniques which could be easily incorporated in the regular classroom teaching methodology for enhancing mathematical skills and performance.</jats:p
